My daughter, who is 20, has never really been athletic. She is 5'9" and about 155lbs, so she is not overweight for her height.

When she came home from college this spring she decided to put herself on a couch-5k program. Every time she finishes a 30-min walk/run, her feet are burning hot, she feels nauseous and light headed. She lays on the floor with her feet up on the bed and it subsides.

She is doing run 3:00, walk 2:00, for 30 minutes, but this was already happening when she was doing 1&4. Her feet don't sweat, but the rest of her body does. She wears shoes with mesh.

Any ideas? Thanks

She stays pretty well hydrated all the time. She eats half a banana after she gets up, a half hour later she goes for a run.

Maybe related to how hard she pushed the run or lack of a "cooldown" (from both effort and heat, if relevant). The hot feet could be an issue with blood pooling in her legs/feet, as could the lightheadedness. She could try spending five minutes or so walking at an easy pace, doing some light stretches, cool off by splashing water or with a cold towel, etc. if it's hot. Many novice runners tend to just flop down on the ground at the end, and feel lightheaded or nauseous when they get up. This effect could be compounded if she's dehydrated or suddenly coming into the AC from a hot run. Another possibility is that she's pushing the pace of the run segments too fast--any way for her to try checking heart rate on the run and walk portions to make sure she's mainly in Zones 1-2?
