Subject: Wheel Pops Tubes
I have gone through three tubes on one wheel in the space of about 800 yds of riding (not a typo- replace, pop, replace, pop, replace, pop). It's an old wheel on my commuter bike, and it's had a couple of broken spokes replaced in the last few months. A colleague suggested that the spokes may be popping through the wheel. Is this feasible? Something that can be repaired, or does the wheel have to be replaced?
Thanks!

And for the sake of thoroughness: I've checked the inside of the rim for debris, and I was very careful the second and third time to make sure that I didn't get a pinch.

Check to make sure all the spokes are well covered by the rim strip, and check the inside of the tire for glass that's stuck in the casing. Oftentimes using a cottonball makes finding these easier, as it will snag on things you might not otherwise feel.

Could have a sliver of wire, glass etc in there that's about the size of, or less than, the thickness of the tire. Small enough to not see protruding, but pressed with your weight it pops the tire.

Patch the tube, put it back in and make sure to MARK it when you get #4.  Make a pair of marks on the tire and tube (or pay attention to where the stem is and which way the tube was turned.)  Find the new hole and then get real detailed in a search of that part of the wheel.

Cotton ball, q-tip etc dragged around as said before can help find the debris (and not cut your finger in the process.)

I've used a strip of soft plastic that is placed between the tire and tube. It has work remarkably well. Also the rim strip may need to be replaced if tire levers have unseated it from the rim. Under high pressure, tires will pop on the edge of exposed inner spoke holes.

The rim strip or lack thereof is likely the root cause. Get Velox

I went through a similar thing. I lost 4 latex tubes and 2 butyl, a total of six tubes, around $110 worth of tubes, before I found the culprit. It was the tire, it had a gash that wasn't so noticible until the tire was inflated to 100, then POP. But I found the 1/8 inche size gash hole finally. I replaced the tire, and problem is fixed.

My back wheel needs to be trued up. It has a slight side-to-side wobble, and I feel at times like I'm going to lose control when I ride. Is this something that I should only trust to my LBS to do?

The wheels are my first area of concern and I have started to shop around. I find it nauseating to think of spending the same amount for wheels as my bike. Any help?
