We are feeding our 2 golden retrievers cannidae at the time. One dog eats anything other isn't eating it even we try to feed him by hand. I got a sample of natures balance ( lamb potato) and he ate it right up. I suppose he doesn't like the cannidae.

What have you had good luck with?
I also don't want to spend a fortune, great if I get around $1 to $1.20 per pound.

We feed Taste of the Wild to our 8 year old lab.  We switch back and forth between High Prairie and Pacific Stream.  I don't know that she does any better on it than she did the 4 years we fed Eukanuba, but we've been very happy with her health and especially her coat. I know the big selling point is that it's grain free, but we switched because I can give her a different taste of food every other month without her having to get used to a new food

Started my Malinois off on EVO (fed it to my prior dogs too) but he just seems to have a super sensitive stomach. Moved him over to Blue last year and he's been great with it.

I feed my German Shepherd Earthborn, alternating b/w great plains and coastal varieties.  GSD can have sensitive stomachs, but he hasn't had any issues on this food.

We have three dogs and they all eat different food although the same brand (Acana).  One (Australian Shepherd) is a low fat (due to pancreatitis), one (mini Schnauzer) is lamb and apple and the other (another Aussie) is a fish based (it makes her fart less than the others...).

Over the years we've just experimented to see what they like and what they tolerate well.

Www.dogfoodadvisor.com Choose 4 star or above. Costco actually has a brand on there that is supposed to be pretty good. I feed one that is internet only called Life's Abundance based on a breeder recommendation.

So... sorry I can't tell you to buy what I use. It's local and produced here in America. One of my dogs had a sensitive stomach... or at least picky about food. Lamb/rice works best. Seems Lamb is best for picky eaters. She liked sweet potato foods too. She did have some digestive issues as when young and that helped. I don't know if she still does.

The biggest thing is all foods are pretty much going to crap. The big names that used to have good reps are made in China. There was that whole thing a few years ago about dogs dying by tainted food made in China.  We used Science Diet and Eukanuba before, but they have gone down hill. We liked Blue before too... but who knows if they have cashed out as well.

Biggest thing is look at the ingredients. If it's corn based, forget it. See if it actually has meat. Not chicken meal, or beef meal... with ground up beaks and hooves... meat. Real meat. And the first or second ingredient, not the last. After that veggies. Corn goes through dogs just like it does us. It isn't easily digested. All the that junk just goes through and you have to feed more and pick up more poo. You don't really save much money paying $1/lb if you are feeding twice as much. Rather than brand... go by ingredients. But all the truly good brands will have good ingredients and proportions of them.

We switched to Taste of the Wild about four months ago...buffalo version. The dog, who used to be able to produce farts of epic quantity and quality, no longer has any issues. We don't have to have her anal gands squeezed anymore either!!

I use Taste of the Wild as well - its what the breeder started my dog on before I picked him up and we just rotate through the 4 different flavors (?) that the local store carries

.

I was on this site last night - the natures domain (what we feed BootyDog) is. 3.5 due to protein amount coming from veg sources, not animal. Now I will look around, now. BootyDog is. 6.5 yo border collie.

My cat is having renal failure..... I need to make sure I do everything to keep the dog healthy and happy for a lot more years.

I guess every dog's different. We've exclusively used Cannidae as well with our golden mix, and she's never had any problems.
There are different varieties of Cannidae as well...perhaps a different formula would be more to his/her liking?

Our older dog eats whatever...usually nutro, hills, or blue. But really, whatever. Our younger eats TOW. I know some folks don't care for it, but we've always had good results. Our cats typically eat Blue, TOW, or Hills. One exception is our end stage CRF cat, who eats prescription (he actually eats C/D, which is bladder stone formula...as he has those as well). He gets wet and dry...and a bit of Fancy Feast.

We had to switch from raw food when our first kid was born, just too hard to keep the floor clean. we have fed Taste of the Wild, no specific flavor, for the last three years. Both our Husky and Northern Inuit are ok with it as it is a very high protein food... the Husky also eats chipmunks from time to time as a supplement... yeah.

Costco has good house brand dog food that we give to our 4 year old golden retriever. It is reasonably priced and the first ingredient is meat protein. I was buying the turkey version, got the beef version this last week and she seems to like that better, gets a bit more excited when it's dinner time.

I feed my 2 year old Weim-mix Taste of the Wild too...so far High Prairie & Sierra Mountain. She'll happily eat anything, but it took about 5-6 different brands/formulas before finding a food that came out well on the other end

My parents' mutt & my sister's catahoula mix both do well with Costco's Kirkland brand.
