I completed the North Pole Triathlon 2 weeks ago, it was an Olympic level event and the first triathlon I have done in 10 years. I had a blast. I want to keep up with additional triathlons. There is an Olympic level in Oakdale CA 10 miles from my home October 12. I plan to do that event and want to do 3 Olympic levels next spring and then a Half Ironman early summer. I swim 6 miles a week and run 24 to 30 miles a week and bike 25 to 32 miles a week. I completed the North Pole Triathlon 2 hours 52 minutes and 58 seconds. I'm 54 years old and know that I can improve my times overall. Which of the training regiments would you suggest? I take a 2 hour lunch Monday through Thursday and 3 hours on Friday this is my primary training time as well as Saturday and Sunday morning. I'm 5'7 and 155 pounds. I would love your input.

Hi Rick, welcome to BT and back to triathlon!

Honestly it sounds like some of the intermediate training plans here would be good since you're already putting in considerable volume. Other than that, I'd put your question into Triathlon Talk--you'll get more answers there--and/or join one of the open mentor groups. They're great for advice and support.

Does it matter how fast you go? Does it matter if you win? No. It only matters that you tri your best and smile when you cross the finish line.
