The first doctor (of the 2 dozen possibles!) I called this morning said if we could come right away she had a cancellation. FANTASTIC doctor, lovely office staff, looked at ALL of us (though we'd only called for Mutti, priorities), went through Mutti's reams of information thoroughly but efficiently. She gave us all the summarization, opinionization, advice, medicines, etc., very clear guidelines for short and long term, and thorough paperwork releasing Mutti to fly on Monday or later (so we can observe and see when she meets the criteria and go then, without having to go back to the doctor).

Mutti felt well enough to want to take a short walk around the block today.

So much love back atcha. <3

FANTASTIC NEWS!!!!!!! Can we shout a big ole Hallelujah here?    Very happy things are on the upswing!!

Go racers!!!!!I'm getting better each day. I'll take it easy this weekend then see where I am for training next week.Ok, so the following picture is the smoke stain above the fireplace in our back yard. Does anyone else see it? DS2 says it's a Rorschach thing. Maybe, but I think it's clear...

On the fence about riding tomorrow. My foot is still bruised and swollen, so that I'm not walking normally and certainly not trying to run. Tried 15min on trainer and the shoes/clips don't make any painful spots as the push pressure is behind my toes. Probably going for a short test on the road after J gets home.

This is really bad timing since my "anniversary" sprint is next weekend. So the smart part of me says forget the ride tomorrow and rest/heal. The love these rides part says...get out of the house and ride!

In the meantime, waiting for Giants and Royals to start game 3. First game with J home and it may get heated.

No ride yesterday. After testing out my foot in bike shoes for a bit on trainer, it wasn't bad. But another 30min in shoes...really sore. Opted out of riding and used sitter for a date night. Watching the Giants win while enjoying Irish coffee and an ice cream cookie sundae was a good end to the day.

Foot hasn't gotten better, and I'm going a little insane after four days of nearly no real activity. Took the kids for a short ride around the neighborhood today, but worried that a quick dismount could be painful. I was right. Decided doc is a smart thing to do, so J taking me in for x-rays in the morning.

Good call on the date night and the planned trip to the doctor, Erin.  Bummer that you can't ride, though.  If it's something they have to cast or put you in a boot for, see if they can't arrange to attach a cleat somehow.

HA! I had a dream about that last night. Riding the trainer wearing a cast with a makeshift fastener I had screwed to the bottom .

Find a mentor. Make a list of at least three people that you could approach for help, list your specific needs and then be courageous enough to begin asking.
