THE FINAL COUNTDOWN!!

Jonathan - that is one hawt bike for you to come home to and spend some time with

Aside from me needing to run out of the way of a seemingly clueless woman who gunned her car in reverse without looking and almost hit me while walking, Dad's appointment went OK.  Thank heavens I had already dropped him off and was walking in alone, I was able to run to save myself.  She'd have nailed him.  At least she apologized to me in the waiting area and acknowledged how close she really was to hitting me.  Today the doctor recommended Dad see a neurologist, which causes mixed feelings for me.  Feelings of good: maybe this will be the answer to his pain; yet other feelings of ugh: are they just running him around or is this a viable solution?  If so, why wasn't it mentioned before?

I am hoping this will be the step that brings you to an answer. Our experiences with neuros have been pretty good, I'll be praying that yours are as well.

In other good, fun news: my sister, my best friend LR and 'Cuda' and I are all signed up for the Yuengling Oktoberfest 5K!  LR and my sister have never done any running or walking events before, so I will walk/stay with them.  I'm so excited!  I've also invited members of my hockey team, not sure if any actually committed to it yet.

You've got all kinds of good news! Yay!

Very very cool and waita' be the motivation for them! That is HUGE and in my opinion, our responsibility as athletes.

Melanie, I'm so glad to hear that your dad is doing better.  I really hope the neuro will help him continue to improve, not only for his sake but for yours as well.  I know it's been really hard on you to be his caretaker and to see him struggling.

That's so very cool about your sister and friend signing up for a race.  Way to be a role model!! (((Hugs)))

Glad that lady didn't hit you in the parking lot.  Sheesh.  That's the last thing you need!!!

Do you want to be sensible or awesome?  (that question, which I often ask, has led me on some of best excursions of my life)

DOOOO EEEET!

Now then, about what are we talking here?  Doing an IM or some other race?  Also, what is the Long Course Weekend?

It's kind of a version of the Triple T except instead of getting your 140.6 by doing a Super Sprint, Oly, Oly and Half in one weekend they do the IM Wales swim course one day, the bike another and the run the third.  It's before IM Wales so folks can use it as a training weekend and I think that they offer the 70.3 distances as well.

I'm watching today's Tour of Colorado stage. I'm not understanding why the referees did what they did.

Holy buckets.  That sounds harder than an IM because you have time for the fatigue and delayed-onset muscle soreness to set in before you do the next leg.  Ouch!  Never mind, Darren.  If THAT's what you're thinking of doing, I'd say just do an IM and get it over with.

Ethan Johnston is a visually impaired triathlete whose first race was the one I did on on Sunday.  I've seen him at one of the rec centers I swim at too.  Pretty cool story.

Might depends where your fitness is at? Splitting it up over 3 days would be much less difficult for me as I wouldn't notice the swim hardly at all for the bike. Would notice the bike while on the run, but not as much as if it was on the same day.

We just finished watching it. Very odd. Interesting interview with Howes after....riders talked about abandoning/leaving the stage? Is that like going on strike for the day? Hadn't heard a rider talk about doing that before. Anyway, what a great ride for Carpenter!

This article explains it.  Are we allowed to talk about it or is this a No Spoilers situation?

There is an app for this (iOS), in case anyone was wondering.  I've watched it to get live video and feeds in years previous.

I have a tri tonight that I was planning on doing (a C race, really), but I've been sleeping terrible the last week, and don't really feel up to it.  I don't have any goals for this, and would have just done it for fun, but right now, I don't think it would feel like fun.

It'll be a bummer to miss racing with the local people, though.

Sorry to hear that.  Good call not to do the race, though.  You could always go cheer on your local racers then hang out with them for the inevitable post mortem.

Find a mentor. Make a list of at least three people that you could approach for help, list your specific needs and then be courageous enough to begin asking.
