What is your vehicle?

We just bought a Ford Flex and we love it. I can't wait to use it for races next year!

2011 Mustang GT California Special.  Soon to be replaced with a 2015 Mustang GT.

Not the most practical for this sport, but I drive a lot more than I race, so I'll deal with a bike rack on occasion.  Besides, the wife drives an SUV.

2013 Mini Cooper Countryman and I LOVE it!  Put the bike rack on the top and there's a lot of room inside to put gear (11 bankers boxes, 3 suitcases, a bike trainer, lots of loose clothing and some extra stuff that I don't even remember right now).  Or, with the back seats laying flat, it also has enough room in the back to put one bike in without taking either wheel off.  

And it's fun to drive.   

Mazda CX-7. They don't make it anymore but it's similar to the CX-5 just a bit bigger.

I bought it as I wanted an SUV where I could lay down the back seats and slide in bikes without any disassembling. It is not the smoothest ride, but it also isn't a luxury vehicle. It works really well for my life right now.

We bought a Mazda 5 last year just before we welcomed a baby into our lives. It was smaller than a van - which we didn't need for 1 baby but the sliding side doors are super convenient.  I have been thankful for them several times in tiny parking spaces, so glad I could get the baby in her car seat through and didn't have to have the door out.  It also has a hatch and fold down rear seats for hauling stuff (baby, triathlon, etc) and the dog. I really am very happy with  it. It's perfect for living in the city - it's not so big we have trouble parking it but not so small that we feel like we can't have everything we need with us.

We both like smaller cars but this will meet our family needs for some time and it was pretty reasonably priced.  We got the model with a few key features: heat seats, blue tooth for phone and stereo and steering wheel controls of those things.  

I just traded in my Rav4, which I would still recommend, for a 2014 Ford Escape.  This is about the same size, just a lot of new/nicer features.  Plenty of room, with the seats down, to haul two bikers and all their stuff.   Really good features for the price point, I think.  I can smell that new car smell just thinking about it...  I love it!!!!!!!

Volkswagen GTI.  I can lay the back seats down and fit a bike and a few gear bags, and I have a roof rack for more bikes and stuff too.  If I were in the market for a new form of transportation I would probably go for a Honda Element personally. 

2003 Buick Rendezvous - plenty of space for Pikatti (dog) in the back for the weekend travels and enough space for gear in the back and on top. Unfortunately I have a trailer hitch "hangin" bike rack, but want to replace that with a stand-up when I add another bike.

Lincoln MKZ

With the wheels off, I can fit my 58cm TT bike in the back seat without having to turn the bars, and the trunk is large enough to hold a second bike the same way (including wheels, and even bike trainer and all race gear).

Stylish, super-comfy, and surprisingly tri-friendly.

I drive a Dodge Ram 2500 Mega Cab, room for all my stuff, all my friends, and my dog. I can open the back door and roll my bike in on the floor in front of the back seat, just roll it in and shut the door, fits great. 

My wife drives a BMW 330ci Convertible.

This car gets road trip duty in most cases so I had to figure out a bike carrying solution. I installed a 1 1/4" hitch on the car, then got a free hanging bike rack. The hanging rack sucked so I found a new rack.

Who said a convertible can't be practical.

'07 Subaru Tribeca:

a compromise between comfort, semi-luxury, off-road ability, safety, tons of room, practicality.  Wasn't planning on keeping it quite so long, but I really like her.  I even like the funny 'alfa romeo' inspired nose.

I ended up with the van when she bought her BMW convertible. There will be no bike rack on the back of that car for quite some time!

2013 Honda Civic sedan. This is my second Civic bought new. Last year I sold my 2001 Civic for 5K and bought a new one-- just mentioned to show how great the resale value is on Honda's.

She catches a decent amount of flack for having a hitch on a BMW, but it really is the only way to carry a bike on that car (I can't stand those trunk mount racks).

She was recently rear ended in that car, we took it to the shop for an estimate. The guy comes out, takes his pictures and such, then says, "what kind of idiot puts a trailer hitch on a BMW?!?" I laughed and said, "right here, this kind of idiot". He backed off when he found out it was for a bike.

She is still in the "new car" phase, so it'll be a while. Ouch to the accident, I hope it wasn't too bad.

Dodge Magnum. I can put the bike in the back if the back seats are down and it has a hitch for the bike rack if we have passengers. And it's got a Hemi

It's driven me to many a race in New Mexico, Utah and Colorado

2000 Ford Taurus Wagon with 196,XXX miles on the clock.  

Why?

It's paid for.
It's comfortable.  
It gets decent gas mileage (20 around town, 25 on the highway)
It is versatile.  My bike is in the back (seats down) out of the weather.  My swimsuit and towel drape across the leather passenger seat.  I have a roof rack and receiver with a receiver-mounted bike rack (or cargo platform).  
I don't have to worry about additional scratches, dents, dings, or stains.  

It's the car we drove from Illinois to Idaho and back when I did IMCdA in 2009.  4 People, bike case, remaining luggage for 16 days.
