Subject: RE: Road bike recommendation $1,500-$2,500 Thank you for all the input.
A few things:
1 ) Not hung on carbon completely but I've never had carbon before and I feel the vibration/bumps pretty good sometimes on the 1500. I ride on Conti 4000s's (1's ) that are 23's. Not sure how much better riding carbon is, but from all I've read it seems to be much better. I'll just have to ride and see. Some of the alum. bikes listed above are really nice... esp. CAAD10.
2 ) Jan, absolutely, fit is vital.
3 ) Should have noted a few things earlier. I'm 50, in good shape, with no back issues.... yet...lol.
4 ) I'll just have to ride a little of everything to see. Love to mix it up and sprint for short distances in a group sometimes. Guessing a Trek 1500 flexes a lot. Also ridden 11+ centuries... but the majority of rides or 40 miles or less.
It's kind of like I'm looking for a deal as much as a particular type of bike. Guess I really just need an "all around" bike. No worries.... cycling is just FUN.
