Anyone have word on how they are going to handle registration for 2015 since the date has moved?

I am curious if they are going to let (August) 2014 volunteers go ahead and register for (October) 2015, or wait and open it up later. I know a few races in the past have changed dates/months but I can't remember how they've handled those registration processes.

Just trying to see if I need to head to Louisville in a few weeks

I think? I just answered my own question:

General registration for the 2015 IRONMAN Louisville presented by Norton Sports Health will open at Noon ET Monday, August 25th, 2014 on www.ironman.com/louisville

Seems if they are opening up general registration the day after the race, they would still honor volunteer registrations that morning on-site as usual.

Not sure what the answer to your question is, but regardless I doubt you'll have to be on site to get in. Moving to October may help registrations but I doubt this becomes a quick sellout.

I would have to agree. This is not a race that sells out quickly.

Historically, anyway.

Speaking of IMLOU Registration - does anyone know if they offered a "Race Ready Package" like they did for IM Wisconsin? Where they packaged a 140.6 race with your choice of a 70.3 race? Last year you could choose IM Wisconsin and either 70.3 Racine or 70.3 Steelhead.

I think it will be a quicker then normal sell out but not instant. Another thing to consider is in 2015 they are also moving the date of IMMD to October which is not too far away and will likely take some spots away since its a flatter course. Not sure if IM is clearing the way for a new location for a summer IM or just wants to increase its numbers at this race

Looks like there is a Muncie 70.3 + IM Louisville package:

Who's in?
ME!

Never registered online at noon for an IM before... way more stressful than it should have been! Done at two minutes after, with confirmation emails received. Here we go!

Might be, it's hard to speculate. I plan on training as if I won't be using it, bringing it, and it will be a nice surprise if I can.

I'm wanting to do IMLou in 2015, but when I went to register, it says the race won't start until 7:30am because of the sunrise.

My concern is with lining up for the swim start. On the IM website, it says they anticpate all athletes in the water by 8:15. In my mind, I'll only have 15.45 to the race.

My first IM (IMFL 2012) was 15:41:09 and IMLou is a MUCH hillier course. I'm worried. Any thoughts from past participants?

If you want a decent position in line, get to transition right when it opens. I've done that twice now, taken my time getting my final preps ready and casually walked to body marking and the line. The first year it took me 7 min from the cannon to get in, this year we were further back and it only took us 11 min. The line moves fairly quick.

I was worried about the exact same thing.  I was deciding between Chattanooga, Louisville and Maryland for next year, and with the late swim start, at least for Chattanooga who also starts at 7:30 b/c of sunrise, it seems they are pushing back the bike cutoff until 6:00, but the overall course cutoff time is still midnight.  With that kind of rolling start, obviously I'd *try* to get towards the front of the line, but wouldn't want my whole day ruined b/c I ended up too far back.  Doesn't really seem fair to me.

I asked my coach about this and he seems confident that all races will honor the 17 hour finish time, but I'm just not so sure.. doesn't seem that way based on the wording, at least on the Chattanooga website in the FAQ section (Louisville's FAQ doesn't seem updated for next year yet, still indicating that 17 hours = midnight).

Your coach is incorrect. When I signed up for Chattanooga last year, and has been much discussed on the Chattanooga FB page, those entering the water later in line will still have to finish by midnight. It is very possible that you only have 16 hours to finish. You actually had to sign an additional waiver in the Active.com system warranting that you had read and understood this policy prior to registering for Chattanooga. Same for Louisville next year (just signed up).

If you think the delay will make or break you finishing, you can get to the swim start really early. All though when I raced in 2011, they sent out an email saying you couldn't start lining up until transition opened (5:30 a.m.) as in previous years people were literally camping out overnight in the swim start line to be able to start first. I'm not sure how they enforced that though, or if that is still how they are operating.

Hills aren't overly horrible.. they don't stop though. You can over do it on the out and back... tough section... thus gassing you for the rest of the race. Train smart and race smarter and you'll be fine.
