I started this program early this spring and have been really happy with it. It takes less than 45 mins three times a week. I throw in some yoga, light core work and stretching on the off days. I cut way back on increasing the weight after a few months when I got where I want to be. I noticed a marked improvement in the swimming and cycling part of my races over last season. I didn't gain a whole lot of speed on my run but I did notice that my knees feel a lot better at the end of the run now and I don't feel as beat up at the end of a race.

Interesting, I just for that website just last week as I've been thinking I need a change this off-season and its been forever since I've lifted any weights, but wanted some simple and for power. (besides my son is now 15 and packing on muscle and he can't be stronger than soon to be 50 dad just yet!)

Glad to here it worked out well for you.

Started today, humbling starting at such a low weight but went nice and slow on each rep.  Looking forward to what it feels like in 10+ weeks.  I threw in the BT Rock-the-core workout in between sets. Perfect filler!

I like how there's the phone app for logging and a set timer.

I started yesterday as well.  was pretty funny lifting such a low weight; im sure it looked like i was doing a long warmup and at the end just changed my mind and cleared the weights.

in about 2-3 months things should be pretty interesting if i can keep up with the 3x a week thing through the holidays

been keeping at it.  up to 185 on squat now and it seems just as easy as the 135 i started at.  i actually like deadlifting now that i know the proper form too; stance was way too wide in the past and i would hit my shins with the bar.

i'll be up to 2 plate on squat and deadlift before i know it.

Nice!

I started very light to be on the safe side since it's been forever since I did any lifting, I'm up to 99 (45kg) on the squats and 132 (60kg) on the deadlifts.  The DL were light and was doing 10 reps but here on out I'm doing 5 reps to save my lower back.  I had to pick up some boxes and climb some stairs this past weekend, sure was nice to zoom up skipping steps without any fatigue!

Wondering how this will impact the bike workouts when I start the trainer next week .

I haven't seen too much of an impact on my riding.  the weight isn't enough to really feel any fatigue later in the day or the next day; hopefully it keeps feeling that way.  the main reason i stopped lifting before was because my entire body would be sore and fatigued after a day at the gym, so this new method is working much better for me.

How's it going now that you've been at it for a few months?

Stronglifts is a decent beginner program. For those ready to move to the next level, a more advanced beginner program, this calculator lays out a good cycle.

I also have this program on a spreadsheet if anyone wants a copy.

Losing fat is not difficult. So why does this continue to be an elusive goal for so many people, who “struggle” just to lose a few inches?
