I got ticketed once for not having a bell - the cop stopped me for riding through a red light at a T-intersection, but noticed I didn't have a bell and wrote me the ticket for that rather than running a red light - which would have been a heftier fine and demerit points off my drivers license.

I bought a bell as a result, but that was 10 years ago. I don't have a bell on my current bike. Seems to me that if you don't give the police a reason to stop you, they aren't going to catch your lack of sounding device.

Love that bell!
I would have pulled the trigger on it long ago had it not been for the price.
