So, the other day, a rude & dangerous turf truck got really close to me and my team mates on a rural road.  He swerved to get close and then laid on the horn and gunned the gas.  The dummy had his logo on the side of the truck.

I looked up the company number and called.  How do you think the call went?

I'm really trying to not paint with a broad brush, but *in my experience* 100% of the F350sand the like that pass me on rural roads are loud and aggressive, and I can comfortably say that close to half make some sort of judgement based on them assuming something about my sexuality. I so want to yell something back, but I am convinced they would actually attempt to hurt me or worse.

I hate riding on the roads. SOOOOO much negativity towards cyclists.

Lemme guess, "Well, you should have gotten out of his way or he wouldn't have had to honk at you."  Or something like that, maybe not in so nice of terms.  Some people.

Wait, were you riding two abreast, not in a bike lane or on the shoulder and with cars parked along the shoulder?  In that case, you must have deserved it.

I'm guessing the person you spoke to was very apologetic. If it is a big company they have people specifically trained to deal with stuff like this, and I'd be surprised if any small business doesn't know how the Internet treats these types of things.

x2 my guess would be that as well for a larger company. But since it's here on BT I might switch my stance!

I sent an email once because I was buzzed by a truck emblazoned by a candidate running for office. The guy himself emailed me back, super apologetic, for his volunteer who was putting out campaign signs. He even threw in that he was an avid cyclist and was looking at ways to make our community more bike friendly. That was an interesting turn.

I, for one, would like to hear the story of how this call went...

Agreed, not that I don't already have a pretty good indication.

Today I got buzzed by a triaxle (Dump truck) on a back road at less than two feet. He did not cross the yellow line to give any extra room, and no shoulder - and there was no traffic coming the other way! Good thing I was no more than a foot from the edge of the road. It was a flat spot and he was coasting, so I didn't hear the diesel, and there was no shifting going on (which would have made noise). This has never happened to me before, and was even more unnerving than the redneck contractor 4X4 pickups with the yelling and cat calls.

This morning I was starting my ride when a rather large pickup pulled out of the Walmart parking lot. As they passed someone yelled something at me, although I couldn't exactly discern what it was. I caught up to the truck at the light. I peered in and noticed a young lady, all the way over next to the driver in the classic pickup couple style. She grinned showing me her beautiful . . .and only . . .front tooth. What a clever girl, yelling out the window like that!

C'mon PGA Mike! good result or bad? I just flipped a coin and it came up heads, which means you got a good result. They apologized and said they would look into it, and gave you a number to call to report more bad driving and said they'd be mailing you a coupon (with no expiration date!) to use for their services or at any of those locations.

Its ALWAYS the big F350, C3500 trucks that buzz my wife and I. I always give them the standard hand jester and tell my wife there goes another "Little Man" with the little man syndrome in full effect!

I would LOVE to catch up or get a business name for one of these guys and have a one on one conversation with them as to what provokes this behavior.

1) We were riding single file

2) It is a one or two man operation

3) I discovered that there truly are bad people in the world, who would rather endanger someone's life than be inconvenienced by 10-30 seconds.

You just found that out?  It doesn't have anything to do with cycling.....some people are just azzholes.

I have managed to surround myself with happy, intelligent people who care about each other.  And I ride a unicorn to work and get paid $1M/year to play with puppies.
