Not quite sure how I feel about this. On one hand, good to see that swimmers are being advised of this. On the other hand, not a great motivator to get into the water . . .

Most government health agencies require this sign or something like it near any public or recreation centre pool.

All pools are gross- better not to think about it too much.

Yea I've seen that sign everywhere. THIS sign on the other hand is something I found strange enough that I needed to snap a photo. This was from a gym I used to attend, and all I can say is thank goodness I read the sign on a day when I was really thirsty...

It's because of crypto virus - chlorine doesn't kill it and it spreads quickly in pools. Also why they ask that you shower before getting in.

The average olympic size pool has 660,000 gal or 2.5x10^6 L so if someone is "Johnny on the Spot" at least we have dilution on our side! hehe

I used to swim mostly at the local Y. When there was a #2 accident, they would drain the pool. At the high School natatorium where I usually swim, they "shock" the pool by dumping extra amounts of chlorine. Once I bought a new Speedo that was light blue. They had shocked the pool over the weekend and I swam on Monday. The blue ended up pretty much bleached white. It was probably not the best skin treatment. . .

And how many swimmers exhibiting signs of overtraining have the dirty d...

These signs are fairly new here and most coaches tell their kids to ignore them. If you are sick stay home, otherwise get your in the pool.

Where do you live? I live in California, and we have had signs like that posted at our community swimming pools for at least a year now. Of course California is crazy about liability.

I ended up in the ER in the middle of the night due to unbearable foot pain which they think is PF since the x-rays came back negative. I'm wondering if I missed some warning signs?

I went into the pool area (as this was a pool swim) and got body marked. That's when it hit me that I was there to race - this was not a clinic.

A few years ago, I was diagnosed with two lumbar herniated discs (L1-L2). I have started a very slow build towards my first tri. Are there any recommendations or warnings I should heed?
