Hi - my garage is running out of room for all my family bikes and I need a safe solution that isn't going to damage the bikes.

I see there are many solutions out there but hey all have one thing in common - suspending the bike from wheel, seat or frame.

Will this added stress ultimately lead to eventual damage of the bike?

I'm probably being paranoid but wanted to seek advice.

thanks, Mark.

No.

If my bike and wheels can handle my body weight, then they can handle their own weight without any ill effects.

I'd take off any carbon race wheels and hang those separately (can't imagine that you've got many carbon wheels on the family bikes), but that's just ME being paranoid.

I hadn't thought of that, but a valid point indeed! I think i'll go for easiest and convenience then.

Cheers!

Unless you're gonna hang them for, oh, say, 100 years, then material creep won't be an issue. Otherwise, the parts see far more stress under a rider's weight and riding conditions than they'll see hanging in the garage.

As triathlon gains in popularity, there will be more athletes like me: never participated in competitive sports, minimal race experience, and only recently taken up endurance sports.

Is it ever advisable to try to lose muscle mass? I've been struggling with a cycle of training to lose weight or rehabilitate some minor injury and only gaining muscle, which adds to my weight.

It may seem simple, but too many athletes get hurt during the season. We all need to stay safe while we share the roads. Here are some reminders to remain alert to our surroundings.
