Subject: Race The Lake Roadrace
88.6 mile ride around Lake Winnebago (Fond da Luc WI). Great ride, views and organization. Went out in waves of about 150 riders, starting a little after sunrise on Sunday. Very well marked course with lots of support by locals and local law enforcement. I was kind of a last minute addition to the Kenosha Racine Bike Club group since I havent trained that much this year but thought I would be able to help with some of the team pulls for the first 60 miles or so. I dont have much experience with large group rides like this and we went out with the 20mph wave. First 60 miles or so went exactly as planned. I was able to help with the team pulls and even initiated a couple of lead changes and was able to stay with the team and help with the early climbs through High Cliff Park. At about mile 63 we turned east into a headwind and falseflat section of the course and I lost the main group. Spent the next 5-7 miles regrouping myself and loading up on more nutrition and hydration. Was able to recover somewhat and solo it home for a 20mph avg overall on the day. Considering my to longest rides up to this had been one 60 miler and one 55 miler and nothing else longer than 40 miles or so, I am pretty happy with the day as a whole. Not having much experience with group races, I actually felt pretty comfortable in the wave. I would recommend this as a ride to anyone in the WI area.

The triathlon made a lot of sense as I could fit the training around early mornings and other times that wouldn't eat too much into my family time. Things never go completely to plan do they?

I found a sprint, the Lake Las Vegas Triathlon, that was happening four months down the road and signed myself up; much to the surprise of friends and family.

I have Bontrager Race Lite wheels. I was looking into renting Zipp 303's or 404's for race day for Ironman Lake Placid. What time will I save?

I am running Boston in April and Ironman Lake Placid is in July. I have been told that it is ambitious to think about doing an IM so close to a marathon due to the recovery time. Any suggestions?

The first time I ventured into the deep murky green lake and could not see the bottom my muscles tensed and my imagined fears surfaced. What exactly lies beneath?

Both the Lake Triathlon Shoe CX210TRI and the Lake Road Shoe CX225 offer distinct advantages. I tested both shoes and found them to be extremely comfortable, good looking and durable.

A description of my experiences during my first triathlon. It was a great experience. I’m in better shape than I’ve ever been.
