Subject: My lil Baby boy did his first Tri today

I tried to talk him out of it.

Here are his thoughts on it.

A few thoughts on my first Triathlon.

1, It would be a good idea to not underestimate the swim. I prolly should have trained for that more for that ( like more then one time in the water) . The swim was just brutal , I actually will need to consult a Theseus, as I simply don't have the vocabulary to describe how bad it was. Very bad , terrible Brutal Inhumane Relentless Unforgiving all fall short.

2. The new bike worked out well, but I should prolly have trained more on that as well. Though the bike was not bad, recovering from the swim made the entire bike ride difficult.

3. the Run was not bad, caught back up to a few people on the run, made good time, but I am sure it was not as fast as it could have been.

4. Traveling and Partying for 3 weeks before a tri is a bad idea, i would suggest not doing that

5. Over all I am glad I did it, and I may do another one, but i will consider this one lesson learned

6. Under 1:45 I think , waiting for the official results though.

Frankly, I think it's awesome that he went for it. And it's just as awesome that he realizes what he should do differently if he decides to do another.

High five the little guy for me!

He'll always be my lil baby boy. But the lil guy is over 6 ft and went from about 235 to 180 since mid 2013. Most of that he did in about 6 to 8 months.

LB I think he is a little over 30 yeah, pretty sure.

I have always been an athlete, growing up playing team sports like basketball and soccer. I also ran in a couple of 10K races every year, so I had no reason to worry about running a 5K...right?

Training for a Tri!!! I get to treat my body as if it were a field mule while my wife runs circles around me and splashes water up my nose at the pool. Whoohoo give me some more!!

I never imagined that 350 yards broken down into 7 REALLY long lanes would be so big! I gasped out loud and told Grady that maybe I had underestimated the swim.

In the past 18 months, I have delivered two babies, had meningitis, broken my pelvis, had two surgeries, worked full time, AND completed my first triathlon!

I am not going to buy a tri-suit before my first tri - I want to make sure I am going to stick with this before I spend a lot of money on it so I want to figure out what will work best.

I couldn't believe that my splits kept getting lower! I started to run harder after I passed the "5 km" sign and picked a few people that I wanted to pass.
