Hello

I had my Sprint Tri yesterday.

I Sprained my leg a week before the tri. On race day, my leg hurt the entire time

The Chain on my bike came off on the mount line. I checked my bike before leaving the hotel

This was my First Tri (5k run, 10mi bike, 400m swim)

I was the Last participant (time 2:39:27.84)

But I Finished it A big thanks to everyone who helped me here at BT!!!!

Future Goal:
I used a Townie Cruiser on my first triathlon. Hubby said I could upgrade my bike. I would like to do a sprint tri in November or December of this year. I would like to train without injury days before race . Any suggestions?

Phebes

Congrats and good job! You toughed it out . . . . the next race should be a lot easier. As for a bike, just a general recommendation would be a road bike that fits. Could be a Craigslist find or maybe you want to get something from a local shop. This time of year there are some great closeouts on last years models. I saved about 37% on my new Trek Madone (actually mine was a double closeout because it is a 2013)

Very nice bling!! Congrats!

There are a number of nice introductory road bikes out there. Trek has several to choose from. A good local bike shop will let you try them out.

Conspankingratulations!!!!!!  You didn't your bike mechanical keep you from finishing, which is huge!!!!  And with a sprained leg too.  Wow.

You're going to be amazed at yourself when you move up to a road bike from your cruiser.  You'll feel like you can fly like the wind with all the muscle you've gained on the heavier bike.  Keep up the good work, Phebes.  You're awesome!!

Yes, if he is reading this, THANK YOU!!!!. I wanted to finish the race although my leg hurt so bad because of the sprain. Also, this was my first sports competition.

I practiced how to put chains on my bike over and over, but for some reason, I could not put the chain back on. Thank you "BALD GUY" on behalf of my family and myself. You made our day

I was a volunteer at the bike turnaround for the Live.Love.Tri. When Phebes came by me she was happy and smiling. What a great sport! I'd have never guessed she'd had difficulty on the run and the start of the bike.

Good job Phebes!
