Have a great first day!

Just some swimming (2700m worth) here. Off to bed soon as am meeting two buddies to run tomorrow. (We now have a "club" of sorts with three of us who happen to do similar pace; all teachers who have to get it done super early.)

It's my wife's 1st day of school with her pre-school kids.  She's hoping for a good class this year after last years tough class!

Did 5 miles with the dog this morning, took advantage of the intermittent off-shore clouds rolling in and 10-20mph winds.

All my former colleagues started inservice today. I sure don't miss that. Me, I worked on detailing the van, got to the Y for some strength work, and shot baskets for fun. Trying to finish the van this afternoon. I should still have time to ride the new bike for an easy hour or so with a few bursts thrown in.

Starting my new teaching job this week too (at a local technical college).

Today's training:

1650m swim, plus bike commute to and from work (9K each way).

4:30am - 2.6 mile run. Almost got to 2 miles before I needed to stop (made it 1.8 miles). 5 months ago it was every .2 miles. I'll break 2 miles continuous next week. Blood clots suck!

I went into the pool area (as this was a pool swim) and got body marked. That's when it hit me that I was there to race - this was not a clinic.

I have been able to swim 200-300 yards without stopping for the past couple of weeks, but this morning I couldn’t swim more than 50. Could not eating make a big differance?

This is not an easy task, especially for the “9-to-5er” with family. But you can do it – all without sacrificing your marriage, job or family.

Once you caught your breath, it occurred to you that finishing even a short triathlon might be harder than you thought. After a few "laps" you thought, "I can't believe I'm so out of shape."
