Subject: Hello from Florida
A few years ago an aunt of mine who was just a few years older had a sudden fatal heart attack. I decided then and there I was going to start taking better care of myself and exercise more. I swore off red meat and only had chicken and fish for a bit. I have since sworn off chicken because of the artificial hormones. I joined a gym and worked out most nights. I moved to a new gym with a heated pool, sauna, weight rooms, spin bikes, exercise bikes, and treadmills. I devised a workout plan but was not getting the results I wanted. After doing some online research, I decided I could do better if I started training for a triathlon. I discovered this site and did the first two free weeks of the couch to sprint silver plan and was hooked! Now I'm on week three and bummed because I did not get to swim because the pool was closed for the night. I'm also hoping to connect with other like-minded individuals for encouragement. I did my first 5K this past weekend and am hoping to be in shape for my first sprint in April.

Welcome to BT and congrats on the 5k! You have plenty of time to prepare for a sprint in the spring. I would recommend hitting the pool sooner rather than later. With your location you'll be able to SBR year-round, I'm jealous! Enjoy training and good luck with your journey in the triathlon world!

Welcome Randy! Where in FL are you located? We spent last winter in Clearwater and will be heading that way again probably late in Nov. Being warm for the winter was part of what got me back into Tri.

I thought of all the times I didn’t attempt something I wanted to do because I was too afraid of trying something new or of failing completely.

At one of my last swim sessions the week of my first Ironman, one of my training partners told me how she was envious..."your first Ironman is fun, you have no pressure and no expectations!"
