Subject: RE: Garmin 310xt mounting? I switched to the QR (90-degree twist to lock it into place ) about two years ago. Have the band for running, but seperate mounts on my tri bike and road bike that "rubber band" the holder in place.
Road bike is mounted on my stem. For the tri bike, my between the bars bottle set-up takes too much room, so I mounted it on the base bar near the bull-horns. You may need to be creative to fiind a good mounting location, but there are lots of alternatives.
Since making the switch, I've had two significant crashes.....one on each bike. In both cases the 310 stayed in palce with no problems. I would rate the bike mounting as very secure. It takes about 1-second to put the head unit in place or remove it. It's very quick and easy.
Same quarter-turn is used on the watch band. The mount does make the unit stick out a little further on your wrist than the normal band. This feels "different" at first and take a time or two to get used to. I don't notice it at all now.
All in all, I give the QR an A-. |
