Hi All,
I heard and also read that there is a problem of algae (black) in the Ohio Lakes (East Fork, Alum, Buckeye, Deer Creek, Portage). Its caused because the wet summer and the run off of fertilizers from farms. Anyone had any problems swimming in those Lakes? I was considering doing the HFP Deer creek sprint but not so sure now.

I have heard about algae problem in Alum Creek earlier this summer. But I was swimming there few weeks ago, and have not seen any problem. I would contact HFP, they should monitor the situation.
My boss swam Alum last week and said he felt horrible when he got out of the water. He generally swims there once a week and felt the water was what caused him to feel bad.
The first time I ventured into the deep murky green lake and could not see the bottom my muscles tensed and my imagined fears surfaced. What exactly lies beneath?
