Subject: Garmin Connect/Triathlon Data
So I just did a triathlon wearing a new Fenix 2. I have uploaded the data and the 3 sports and the 2 transitions are all separate events on garmin connect. I have to go to one event to view the run data, another event to view the bike, etc.. Is there a way to combine all 5 events into a single one? Seems kind of dumb that Garmin will break one event into five and it is certainly a PIA to have to jump around all five events for a complete picture.
Thanks

Isn't that the way most people want it?

There's no way to make it one event if you use the multisport mode-- the purpose of the multisport mode is to separate the legs into separate activity files.

I supposed you could go into the code and combine them, but that would defeat the purpose of the multisport mode. It's too late now, but for future triathlons if you want it to record as just one big activity you can use it in single sport mode. It doesn't really matter which sport you choose, because you can change that later, and it will all be in one .gpx (or .tcx) file.

I was thinking you could download the data to something editable, like CSV files, then tack them together using Excel to get one long data file.

That would work for things that are continuous throughout, but you would have some breaks in things like cadence (if you have a cadence sensor on the bike that the Fenix was picking up)

Then things like speed; not sure if they are separate columns, but for the swim it's time/100 yd, the bike speed is MPH, then the run would be min/mile. You would have to convert them all to a common value if you wanted to look at one long chart.

Then averages would be pretty strange; I did a half-distance race and was looking at something like Athlinks, showing average speed for the whole thing to be like 7 mph. Not very useful to me.

you could try tcx converter it allows you to join multiple tcx files and then export them to various formats.

If one muscle has restrictions it can limit the range of motion on the connecting joint and have a domino effect as that tension and restriction is carried down the chain.
