I'm looking at getting my wife a present or something to show my appreciation for making sure I get my training in, for supporting me at races, & all the other details that go hand in hand with triathlon and raising three children.

Do any of you out there do something for your spouse, & if so - what?

Thanks!

I got her a horse......it takes up most of her time and in case of emergency they are now legal to eat.

DH is in to cars so I try to participate with him in that way. Go to car shows with him, make sure he gets to spend money on his hobby. This weekend he wants to look at a motorcycle

Get her a tri bike, I am sure she will love it. Also, make sure it fits you, just in case...

I'm not sure how to react... Funniest thing I've read all day, but the logic is flawless...

As for my wife, who happens to be an RN thus the primary breadwinner as well... Flowers, massages, date nights, me wrangling the herd (4 kids) to give her free time and whatever little endearing thing comes to mind.

My daily training and many races are very important to me and I realize the huge impact it has on my spouse.  I'm more of the mind to make sure I do not neglect any of the other aspects of my life than to get her anything.  Even  if I'm very tired after a long workout I still make sure to mow the lawn or take her out to dinner or whatever I sense is needed to be done.

I do occasionally schedule a destination race somewhere that she wants to go and will do her thing after the race.

I guess I did buy her a new pair of Hoka Cliftons last week as a surprise but it was the day after I bought a new bike.

Too funny! My dad bought my mom a fly fishing rod years ago for her birthday... She had no desire to fly fish and never has. My dad and I got a lot of use out of that bugger though (before I broke it).

My GF is going to get a road bike for Christmas.  She agreed to get me a CX bike...but her bike is going to cost twice as much as mine...LOL.

Our deal is whatever I spend on triathlon, she gets to spend the same amount on clothes, jewelry, etc.

She got some nice bling when I bought my last bike...

In all seriousness, that one will be hard to beat. Make sure that she feels free to pursue her hobbies or have time for herself.

Whatever she wants! If my wife wants something, I'll get it for her, no questions asked. The problem with that is, she usually wants stuff for "us" (nice pieces of furniture, home upgrades or decorations, big vacations). That kind of puts a damper on my ability to explain that I spent 30 grand on her last year, it shouldn't be a big deal if I want a $4000 bike... lol.

SOOOOO, this route may not be the best to get things for your hobby, I still don't own a $4000 bike, but the old saying goes: "Happy wife, happy life."

Get 2 motorcycles!

That's what we did... but mainly because I don't wanna share mine!

I dated a girl once that wasn't into athletics so I gave her a few "get out of jail" type cards. She could use them on me whenever and I couldn't do any training for the day.

We didn't last much longer and since I have been with women much more heavily involved in outdoor activities so I buy them stuff that I can get use out of too

As much as I LOVE the new tri bike idea, my budget is slightly less and I don't really want to use money out of my "Bike Replacement Fund" just yet.

The horse idea is good, but even more expensive than a tri bike, as horses are hay burners and I don't really want the hassle of hay, I took horse meat out of my diet when I got into triathlon. You know the ol' adage - A little horse on the lips - a lifetime on the hips.

I already keep up on the housework, we're a pretty good team when it comes to that kind of stuff. Plus, I've done three different landscaping projects in the backyard as it is. She is a photographer, and a busy one at that. So, sometimes she is gone at night - and I'll have the kids, chores, etc.

I don't know - maybe I don't need to do anything, but I was thinking like getting her an hour massage or something.

I just didn't know if people did that sort of thing or not. I am out there training or racing and she has the children. I thought a token of my appreciation would go a long way. We do gifts for each other out of the blue sometimes throughout the year.

Sorry for the rambling...

This year I got her a new lawn mower and vacuum cleaner.  I figure she should put all that spare time she has while I'm training to good use.

Get her a weekend away, like totally AWAY, a spa or something out of town she would enjoy. Maybe talk to one of her GF's maybe it can be a girls weekend etc.
