Subject: shoes for plantar fasciitis

Hi -

Does anyone have a recommendation for shoes I can wear the rest of the time, ie, to work, that will help with the bottoms of my feet hurting? I spend hours in a row on my feet, and they always hurt worse on days I've run. I have mild plantar fasciitis, and stretching helps, but I think I really need some better work shoes.

Thanks,

Rebecca

I think it depends on the nature of your feet, as in one size probably doesn't fit all (pun intended). I wear Asics to and from work that are ok but its probably more accurate to say it minimalizes the discomfort as opposed to evaporates it. The other thing that works for me is I ice my foot after a run. I see a noticeable difference as opposed to if I don't... good luck.

have you tried insoles, as opposed to shoes? I saw an orthopedic surgeon about my PF and she gave me a pair of OTC insoles (powerstep I think) - that work really well

End of 2012 I had PF first show up. It was bad enough where walking hurt a ton and I did not run for 6 weeks. This didn't even cure it. It has been present ever since but now very manageable and I have only missed one run due to it. I bought superfeet Green inserts and wore then for running as well as with my every day shoes. This and trying not to walk around barefoot have helped the most.

This article came out in today's New York Times. It's well worth reading.

I had issues with P.F. in 2011 and 2012. Active Release Therapy (ART) worked incredibly well, but it was expensive even with insurance. I'd try the recommendations in the article first. You may also want to look at custom orthotics... they've made a world of difference in my life.

I've heard people have good luck with Hokas for PF, but never had them before. I'm ordering a pair because I've had knee issues. I've tried the cliftons on and they feel awesome!

Over the past couple of months I've been waking up with a sore heel. Right in the center, it feels like I stepped on a pebble and bruised it. The pain, fairly minor, goes away as the day progresses.

I have had Plantar Fasciitis in both feet for 5 years, orthotics have finally helped where I can run again. Are there recommendations beyond ice and stretching?

I think I have Plantar Faciitis? The bottom of my foot is sore in front of the heel in the mornings. It sort of gets better during the day, I can run without increasing in pain.

The bottom of my feet, more specifically the arches, have been sore off an on for a couple of weeks. Should I be worried? Anything I should do to prevent this?

Often pain occurs with the first steps of the day or at the beginning of a run when that tight fascia gets stretched and microtears occur. But pain can also develop with prolonged standing and worsen.

Heel pain, especially in runners, is usually due to plantar fasciitis. The plantar fascia is a band of connective tissue on the bottom of your foot that stretches from the heel to the ball of the foot

I have bone spurs in my left heel. It's painful first thing in the morning. Sometimes my heel will bother me running, or on the bike. I feel as if the heel is holding me back.
