Please comment on my fit.

This is the fit for all training and short course racing. I've tried using a TT/Tri bike and didn't like the feel of it. I've put clip on aero bars on this bike and didn't like it either. I do quite a bit of riding in groups and also hills so prefer not to have the clip ons.

I'm trying to get a good mix between aero on the drops and comfort for the hills.

Looks pretty good to me - saddle height seems right and your position on the hoods looks comfortable while having the bars low enough for a reasonably aggressive position in the drops.

Saddle height looks ok, but you do look compressed. If you get in the drop, it looks like you wouldn't have sufficient reach to be comfortable. When you ride in the drops, does your shoulder and upper back get tired and achy? Telltale sign that you're too compressed… To be very honest, the bike almost looks too small for you… but again, this based on an internet photo, so difficult to say for sure…

I always used to ride a 57cm top tube but this is a 56cm tube. I shortened it because it felt like I was reaching out a bit too much on the 57cm and didn't have the best control on the bike. I sometimes feel a litle cramped when I'm on the top bar climbing but when in the hoods or drops I feel I have much better control over the bike.

The triathlon bike vs. road bike quandary. Before you even ask the road bike vs. tri bike question, you should have a couple sprint triathlons or duathlons under your belt.
