Hi All!!

Looking for a destination 70.3 that is fairly flat. I've done Steelhead 2x but I would like to travel somewhere next year for a race. Ideally a summer event (I teach so no vacation to boost weekends during the school year). I don't mind driving or flying - but looking for somewhere fun with a good race. Doesn't have to be a big event - just somewhere fun.

I have NO hills here to train on - and while I could drive to get hills - I won't.

Thanks!

Racine is about as flat of a bike course as I know of. Somewhere around 500 ft of total elevation gain. Run is flat except for two short but steep hills that you have to run twice each. Plus, it's not too far for you and it's in mid July.

Wouldn't say Racine is a "destination" location. Though Milwaukee just 45 minutes north is awesome in the summer.

Boulder 70.3 is a good choice, flat course but looks of sun exposure at elevation makes it difficult. Still a great place for a destination race.
REV 3 Maine is another awesome location that I would classify as designation too.

Unfortunately flat and destination don't always go hand in hand. But if your willing to open up for hills you unlock some great destinations.

I did the Rev 3 Maine race this year. I did the Oly and I'd call it pretty flat.

True, not really a "destination" race. But definitely flat! I'm doing Silverman in Las Vegas next month for a destination race and that course is anything but flat.

How about Eagleman?  That's about as flat as you're going to get.  It's usually the 2nd weekend of June; not sure how that works with your school schedule.  Cambridge is nice to spend a couple of days but you can drive 75 minutes to Ocean City MD or 90 to the Baltimore/DC area for more things to do.

Challenge Williamsburg (used to be Rev3) is very flat and a nice destination race (hour to the beach, right by Busch Gardens and Water Country USA and Colonial Williamsburg) but I am very biased as it is local to me

I'm doing the HITS Naples 70.3 in January. It's the perfect time of year for South Florida and like everything else here, it's dead flat. This will be my first time doing it, so I can't give a detailed report. I think you mentioned the summer, but if you want to get a break from winter, this would be a good bet.

Cancun 70.3 was a good destination and flat. Just be aware that it was about 5 degrees cooler than the gates of hell.

Rocketman Tri at the Kennedy Space Center. Pancake flat. But........... it's in 3 weeks, so probably outside your time frame.

Princeton should be a fairly flat course, the run certainly will be. It's an hour from NYC, Philadelphia and Jersey Shore. It's the first year for it this weekend.

Rev3 in Venice,FL (early November). Only *hill* climbs are a couple of overpasses. Swim in the Gulf of Mexico, white sand beaches… Good enough for your grandparents, good enough for you :-)

Come to Boulder. The 70.3 is June 12th. I'm doing the sprint race. The courses here are false flat, not big hills, just lots of rollers. Fun Times to be had.

I'm still chuckling over Racine being mentioned as a "destination" race.

On the other hand, have heard positive reviews about the Wisconsin Door County 70.3 (they also have a sprint on the same day, and a century bike ride later in the year)

Door Country (Wisconsin eastern penninsula) is a pretty area, flat course

Sells out rather quickly.

I started riding this spring with the Carnac shoes on Look pedals (with plenty of float). About five minutes into a ride I get sharp pain on the outer edge of my feet, just behind the pedal.
