Subject: Finding Ironman 70.3 Races
What is the best place to find a list of 70.3 races? It seems that ironman.com has a list of some of them but I am looking for races specific to California in 2015 and I cant seem to find many listed.

Trifind can have a lot of things and can filter location & distance. Runningintheusa can actually have tri's as there is a running component, but doesn't currently have the same level of filtering.

Do know that it's still kind of early for many races to be putting out for 2015. Ironman tends to be well ahead of many races I know of in this regard. Some will start showing up throughout the fall, and also in the first couple months of the new year.

Ironman only shows Ironman races.  Something like trifind.com is a good resource but can be slow to update and or provide good info.

Ok, thanks. This is going to be a newbie question but, whats the difference between a half ironman and an "Ironman race".

Ironman is both a brand name and a race distance. When you go to the Ironman site, they only show Ironman brand races though there are a number of others races of that distance.

Half iron is 70.3 miles.  Full iron is 140.6 miles.  Those are terms used to describe the race distance.

Ironman is the brand/company name.  Anything with the M-Dot logo is an Ironman branded race (140.6 or 70.3).  The terms "Ironman" and "70.3" are trademarked.  So other non-Ironman races have to call their races something else even if they're 140.6 or 70.3 miles.

And having that said, many racers still refer to all races of those distances as "Iron" or "half-Iron" even when they're not run under Ironman.

Trifind, but I also use:

http://www.runningintheusa.com/- because it has really nice sort/search features that can cover all 50 states.
