Subject: Combining Holiday with Overseas Race
I'm looking at doing an overseas event and thinking of planning a two week holiday on the end of it with my wife.

Is this a good option or is it best to just do the event and have a holiday at another time?

Just thinking about what to do with all the gear I'd have to lug around with us (bike, helmet, bike pump, etc) and the fact that I'll be sore and tired after doing a triathlon event and won't have the energy to do too much sight seeing.

Anyone combined the two?

I do this most years ..

I normally hire a motor-home for 3 weeks and incorporate a European Ironman near the beginning .... in fact, doing it again next year with IM Austria

The thing I would add, is ...

The first part of the holiday become very centred around the person racing ... so it's best to let the other party(s) have there way once the race is done and dusted .. that way it keeps the peace.

Don’t go without, just watch portion sizes and remember that there is ALWAYS time to get a short workout in…if you make the time!

We can no longer say “I’ll start training next year” or “let me just get through the holidays”- it IS next year and I, for one, am more than through with the holidays.
