Subject: Help... gyms near LAX
Coming to LA for a business trip. I'm staying near the airport at the Westin which has a gym but it looks typical hotel. I need access to 1) a spin bike (not those weird hotel bikes) and 2) a lap pool. (I need a treadmill but I assume that's standard and I can get it in the hotel). I've done web searches for gyms and am not coming up with much except specialized gyms like Crossfit. Anyone help out?

Best bet for pools is the Culver City Plunge, nice pool and fairly close to Century Blvd /LAX, 5 miles away.   Take Sepulveda North to Jefferson north, left on Overland.  Looks like they have good fall hours as well.

Spin bike, probably better sitting in on a spin studio class than getting into a gym....  This gym is nearby, Spectrum, in El Segundo.  Might want to call and see if they do a day pass or two...  http://www.spectrumclubs.com/southbay/

There's an LA Fitness riight near the airport and looks like you can get a 3 consecutive day guest pass (probably have to suffer through a tour and sales pitch though),.   https://www.lafitness.com/Pages/freepass.aspx?clubID=848

Hey thanks so much for the help! It worked out perfectly. I hit LA Fitness and only had to endure a brief intro chat with a nice young man who quickly realized he wasn't selling me anything. He comped me anyway and I visited twice this week during my trip. Between meetings and dinners I ended up there in the afternoons and I have to say it was an interesting scene there that time of day, A few young kids but mostly retirees. Lots of waterwalking and floating in the pool but hey, it's their place and I was the guest right? Thanks for the info.

When I swim I struggle to get a full breath and consequently run down faster. I spend part of my training on the side of the pool gasping for air.

I'm on the other side of the college-student desk. I'm the one with the red pen in my hand. Those of us with schedules that change from day to day actually have an advantage, I think.
