Swim
Comments: First portion of race there was the usual body contact as found in many other triathlons. Some swimmers had trouble with navigation and sighting and I was T-boned once. Nearing the first buoy, more open space was found and usual swim skills arrived. Timing mats at entrance to transition so swim times likely a little slower 45 seconds or so, then actual. Transition 1
Comments: Usual routine of removing wetsuit and putting on biking clothing. Long day ahead, no need to add additional stress. What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: AS stated before, this is a difficult course. One must meter their effort or suffer badly on the second lap and run. The bike course is more difficult than the REV3 Knoxville course. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 2
Comments: A normal T2 experience. Had to use the bathroom in transitional area prior to leaving. Run
Comments: I did a run 3-4 minutes, walk 30-40 seconds routine. I had no choice due to the severity of the bike course and my injury history. I torn the fascia in my right calf on 8-10-14 and had no run training since. Overall fatigue creped onto me but my HR never sky rocketed over 158 bpm. Post race
Warm down: Walk and eat. What limited your ability to perform faster: Right calf injury and limited run history. Then again, the severity of the bike course would hinder any of my runs. Event comments: Needs more contestants. This is really a two day event with the sprint and Olympic events done the day before. They had over 375 participants for the shorter events. Plenty of food afterwards. Post race showers. This course is idea for the elites because the hills will break up any drafting packs. Last updated: 2014-09-22 12:00 AM
