Extreme Veteran 1279 | Subject: RE: KS 70.3 2015??? Looking at North American 70.3 races next year, there is a huge hole in early to mid-September. I wonder if they will work it in there somehow? I would think KS and Boulder sucked off of each other last year being only a week apart and so close on the map. They want to split those up. |

I've been working a theory that a Missouri 70.3 could be on deck. I posted this ST back in April: "No idea if this is true. But last year WTS held a 5150 at Innsbrook, MO--outside St. Louis. It is not a 5150 this year, and the resort is putting on a 70.3 distance race this year. Perhaps WTS would rekindle that relationship? Also, there is a new 70.3 (not WTS) event in Alton, IL called Border Wars. With two 70.3 distance races in the area this year, I guess I could see them staking a presence there. The event at Innsbrook is traditionally in June near the KS 70.3 so, from a timing standpoint it may not make much sense. " Ultramax already has announced 06/27/15 for their 70.3. If they are abandoning KS and moving to MO (just speculating), this Border Wars Tri next month in Alton could also become a WTC event. It's run by Racemaker out of Indianapolis. They could be monitoring this event and pushing it next year forward a few weeks would make some sense. I'm basically just speculating over everything and have no insight information. |

Extreme Veteran 516 Olathe, KS | Subject: RE: KS 70.3 2015??? Sad. Not listed on the pro registration page: http://www.ironman.com/triathlon/organizations/pro-membership/event-registration/2015-event-details.aspx#axzz3AUwMcfOY It'd be nice if Ryan Robinson still poked his head in BT every now and then to give us his thoughts/updates again. ETA: I should also point out that Muncie isn't listed on that list either (another race I was considering but it does have a date of Jul 11) and that list can still be updated. Ryan probably has looked in and read all of the open, honest, and accurate opinions that his events have been simplistic, boring, and lacking what people need to be excited about coming back to Silverback events next year. Might have kept him quiet for a while. I hope he pushes hard for big events next year and brings back the fun and exciting atmosphere his events used to have. |

Alpharetta, Georgia | Subject: RE: KS 70.3 2015??? It's probably because Glinda the Good Witch hasn't raced for 2 years now. Sorry guys In all seriousness it would be a shame to see this race go. Wonder what the rationale would be?? A challenging course, popular race (but never sells out, right?), great community support... |

Veteran 1127 Shawnee | Subject: RE: KS 70.3 2015??? I'm out in St. Louis and this STL IM70.3 rumour seems to have legs. Several people talking about it and a June date. I haven't seen anything official though and don't know the source of this talk. |

Looks pretty interesting. {sarcasm} Despite the fact that it says "Outlast the ordinary",I don't believe this to be a Silverback run event. Notice, it says: Free Post-Race beer provided by Boulevard Beer Spinning D.J. inside of Transition Professional Race Announcer Kids Zone! Moonwalks, face-painting & games Stocked aid stations! Crushed ice, cold towels, snacks, etc… Looks pretty cool. Edited by dprocket 2014-10-24 8:10 AM |

Master 3888 Overland Park, KS | Subject: RE: KS 70.3 2015??? I might try the 100, might be a good tweener between a 70.3 and a full IM. I'm thinking of "going all the way" in 2016 so this would be a nice build/test the waters race. I like the 2 mile swim. Hopefully nice an choppy to separate the men from the boys |

Regular 107 Kansas City | Subject: RE: KS 70.3 2015??? No, I hear that it is a Silverback/ Ryan Robinson event. 'Outlast the Ordinary' is their trademark slogan. I'll admit some of their events have not had the pomp and circumstance of some big events, however I have also not heard any rumors of the group losing massive amounts of money on events, unlike so many other promoters/RD's in this crowded market. My only real gripe has been some of their course distances have tended to be off. My Garmin said the bike at the Sliverback tri last month was 27 miles and the run was 6.5 |
