I'm looking at attending a triathlon training camp in early April. Has anyone done a camp? Would you recommend it? Do you know of one that runs the first week of April? Thanks!

Best and most camps are in the winter months. April is the start of race season so camps start to slim down.

Need more info to really answer that question.

What is your budget?

What do you want out of the camp?

Are you willing to travel?

Do you want high volume, race specific, educational add-on?

I'd definitely have to travel. We get socked in with snow. Mostly looking for a chance to train in a supported environment with high volume.

Most of the high volume camps are in the winter, April is usually more for race-specific training camps (Usually done where the race is held).

These high volume camps can range from $700-$2500 for anywhere from a weekend to a week long camp. Most if not all camps are supported as well. Lots of camps are either in Claremont, Florida or Tuscon, Arizona

If you want to do high volume camp I would read this first.

If Solvang, CA isn't too far... there are a couple training camps there.

They have two in March and one in April. The camp alone is around $1000, plus food, travel and lodging.

"Our March Miles camp is all about preparing you for the spring by getting in some outdoor road miles, training in a beautiful setting and recharging the fun in triathlon. This camp is for Olympic distance, 70.3 and Ironman athletes looking for some spring miles in prep for the season."

"The camp includes:
Professional Coaching
Fully Supported Rides, variety of mileage options available
Coached swim, bike and run sessions
Climbing and Descending Skills focus on the bike
Outdoor pool
All-weather track
A ride up Figueroa Mountain
Seminars
Camp cycling jersey
Bike mechanic"
