Anyone entered/thinking of entering? I'm on the fence... I've never done the distance, my longest "competitive" run is only the Bolder Boulder, but my current training has seen me go 8 miles with minimal walking.

Hi, Sam.

I'm not doing it.  I took some time off after Oktoberfest and am now training for a 10k around Thanksgiving, then a HM in March.

I think I'd advise against you doing this HM.  That's a big jump in mileage, more than 50% over what you've previously done, and it's in only 2 weeks.  That could set you for an injury.  It may not feel like as big an accomplishment, but I think that the 10k might be a better bet for you at this point.

And I talked with my DH, who has more training experience than I do.  He said it would probably be okay to do if you didn't try to run the whole thing.  Shows what I know.   Hope you have fun with your kids.

COgirl - How did you do?

That was a fun little run. I missed my goal by 21 seconds... The phrase about horseshoes and hand grenades comes to mind. I only got 4.5 hours of sleep last night due to schedule changes at the job. Next time I will break the 50 minute mark!

I placed 43rd overall(221 finishers) in the 10K, 11th in the 30-39 Mens Age Group @ 50:21 (PR)

Congrats! Nice finish. I was significantly slower than that. Not in shape, starting the slow road back. Glad I went though!
