Hi all, completed my first sprint triathlon in early September and I am so happy with my fitness results along the way that I am now addicted. I have joined a local tri club to figure out this swimming thing so I can improve my times for the next challenge. My swim sucked - came out second to last in my age group. Lots of anxiety, couldn't figure out how to sight, etc. Next time I am determined to do better. Upwards and onwards.

The swim can always be a challenge.

Glad you got through it and are now hooked.

Winter months are a great time to get in the pool and get more confidence in your stroke!

Great job!

Keep it consistent and the results will keep coming.

On the swimming: You have probably heard it several times before, but swimming is technique heavy. You can do a pile of work and go for yardage (term for swimming a lot of distance) but still have a hard time to decease time and increase efficiency. Take care to work honestly on your stroke that why you expend less energy on the swim and more energy to burn on the bike and run. It's an easy trap to fall into, especially with group swims, while they are good, many times competition can get the best of you. Drills, drills, drills! (Term for technique practice

Train on!

I had read the articles on BT, I'd trained, and I thought I had prepared. There were, however, a few things that I didn't internalize despite what I'd been told.
