Anyone else doing any of the Great Floridian Endurance Festival races this upcoming Sat?  I'm doing the TriAmerica distance, 2k-60k-15k (~1.5x Oly).  My wife and some friends are running the 15k run race.  My son & daughter (comp swimmers) were thinking about doing the 2k OWS but they had a swim meet pop up instead.

I'm on board supporting my local independent race. Signed up for the full last year, but fresh back from Chattanooga and with Cozumel on the horizon, think I'll aquabike instead. Next year will be a big year we hope - all finishers of prior years' ultras are entitled to a complimentary entry in the 25th Anniversary GFT. See the Friends of the GFT facebook page for details.

Nice.

I follow that page, btw, complementary = $50 admin fee, which is a great deal for 140.6 miles!

Starting the 15th for 25 days all first timers can sign up for $250. I was going to do IMLOU but will be doing the GFT instead. If you're in FL and looking for a 140.6, it's hard to find a reason NOT to do this one.

Thanks. I did the half earlier this year. Sugarloaf sucks!!! This will be my second 140.6 but I don't doubt it'll be harder than PCB was.

I don't know..I have done PCB  3 times and have done multiple 1/2s in Clermont...and I know for a fact one of those 1/2s felt waaay harder than IMFL!!  The heat and hills.   Love training there, though...and racing! It makes you tough!

Yeah I worded that poorly apparently. I did IMFL in Nov and Clermont half in April and physically Clermont may have been tougher. The bike darn sure was. Haven't looked at the bike course but I'd guess about 3.5k ft of climbing. Looking forward to it.

I think I read that wrong more than you worded it poorly! Either way, it will be a great challenge!

This will be my first Iron Distance Race. Choosing this race over IMFL. The price difference made it a no brainer. 500 more for IMFL. That seems like a lot to pay for extra hype and additional crowds.

Cool!  Should be a good event with a more already signed up than they had competing this year.

The TriAmerica part of it this year was nice.  I love riding up there. I did all right given the lack of training!  Can't make any commitments for next year at this time other than looking at the Olympic in March.

Already a cyclist and not a bad swimmer, I figured all I had to do was build up to running a few miles and I’d be ready to go. The challenge invigorated me, and I ran out to buy new running shoes.
