I've found a few, with notes, but looking at the 2014 schedule. Can anyone add more?

1) nvm

2) HITs should be sometime in April, but also near bay

3) Wildflower early May, 4hrs from LA not ideal

4) http://www.trievents.com/should be sometime in early May. Nice!

I think there's any Olympic distance at Lake Perris (Moreno Valley) in march or April called Big Rock

For Sprint Distances:

Race on the Base

Pasadena Tri.

Both are reverse races and always have a good crowd.

Sorry just saw this thread. I have done the San Dimas races many times. It's a summer series of 3 different races, but you can also register individually. They aren't olympic distance, but they have the "Bonelli Olympic Distance" race in Sept/Oct. For the summer series races they usually have around 400-500 people per event (there's a short sprint and a longer sprint). Easy lake swim and very hilly bike & run. If you haven't done hill training, don't do these races! They usually do a SERIOUS discount on black Friday for the upcoming year's races (like 50% off) so something to think about for 2016. With the discount it's a no-brainer. Chris McCormick (IM pro) showed up for one of the races a few years ago. Very cool!

Yes , Great event , longest running series , smooth lake swim and nice bike 3 loops and run in a park setting ,
The MAy 9th race is olympic distance CHAMPIONSHIP:SWIM 1.5K- BIKE 39K - RUN 10K(BIKE 3 LAPS AROUND THE PARK)

The bike and run have some grades in them but they are short and none are steep . Expect to change gears on the bike
Some of the pavement is choppy , it will feel like cobble stones.
Crowds are not a factor , there were plenty of rack spots available in transition, But Like at any triathlon : arrive early for closest parking , secure a good spot in transition and to skip lines at bib pick up & the toilets.

Most people believe that running barefoot is dangerous. Certainly, depending upon the surface, they would be correct. However, there is some suggestion that running barefoot may reduce injuries.
