I am only a few days out from my first HIM distance race, and I have some painful chafing on both of my upper arms. The area is under my tricep, the spot where my arm rubs against the under-the-armhole seam of my tri-top. It seems to be more than bodyglide can handle, so I would ideally like to cover it up somehow. Arm warmers?

Does anyone else have this? Any suggestions?

Race temps will be in the low 70s.

The arm coolers would/should work or if you don't want to go that route you could try some of the second skin stuff people use for blisters and such.

Bodyglide works for me. Spread it on thick.

I would first try glide. I would rub a thick coat of glide all over the seam on your tri suit and the area on your arm with the chafing problem. If that didn't work I would go with arm warmers.

Thanks for the replies!

I am definitely a bodyglide believer, but have just not had much luck with it on this one particular area. Could be that my tri top has a bit more of a seam there than all my other workout clothes.

So... since I think the arm warmers will be too much for the run, I am going with the liquid bandage. Paint over it and forget it, that's my plan

This may be the only way.

But Aquaphor can also be very helpful.

Kathy, this was absolutely my first idea! When in doubt, go shopping ;-) I just waited too long bc my local tri store has absolutely zero in stock right now :-(

I wonder if I could pick something up at the expo, and if so, would it be wise to try out a new top on race day?

I don't really strength train (because I never have and don't really know much about it) and feel like my lack of upper body strength is the reason why I'm not getting faster.
