I took it relatively easy last week (mostly from running), now 3 big volume weeks to go. My bike / run tapers are like yours. I start my long rides at 5am to beat the heat, but still haven't been running after, because it is 85-90 degrees by 10:30am here. But I will start short runs after the long bikes this weekend, just to get the feel for it again, and to retest bike nutrition. I'll probably target 17/18/19 miles for my 3 long runs remaining.

Yep, race day will be here very quickly.

I age up to 45 next year and plan on signing up for Chattanooga 2016 here in a few weeks.

We booked a condo through VRBO.com - it's within walking distance of 4th Street Live and has plenty of rooms and bathrooms + a garage (we are driving), full kitchen, WiFi, etc. It was about the same price as each of us getting separate hotel rooms in the same area. Last time I did LOU we stayed across the river in Jeffersonville - much more reasonable prices and only a 10-minute drive with no parking issues the entire weekend. 

It will just depend on how much you want to spend and where you prefer to be located - in the middle of the action (Galt House is the host hotel, very popular), away from the crowds (in a nearby town like Jeffersonville), or somewhere in between (like what I'm doing this year, a condo but close to the finish line).




Great info Lisa, Thanks! I think we will be bringing a whole horde of people, especially if I can convince my sister to race with me. We just need good accommodations for 2 little ones, so at least 1 suite or large area.

I booked at the Marriott Springhill Suites Downtown for $170/night. It is about 3 blocks from finish line. It offered free parking and free daily breakfast and comes with fridge and microwave. I only plan to eat out once so I will be making some meals and freezing the week of to bring down and just heat up in the room. I will let you know how it goes. Looking back I probably should have went the condo route but we have about 6 families coming down so to get us all in same location we figured hotel was best route.

I have gotten 75-80 miles in the past three weekends. Had a crazy week so kind of laid off the runs but after seeing that some of you guys had rest/down weeks this week I feel a little better. I have three more hard weekends then I taper after 9/20. This weekend I am going to try and get a 2 hour run in and 5 hour bike. Then next weekend will be my 100 miler with 1 hour brick run.

My pool closed for annual maintenance the past two weeks so I only got 2 swims in the past two weeks. Felt a little sluggish this morning but figure that will come back real quick.

I'm told it's always been this way, but I found it odd that body marking was down near swim start, and not at transition. For those who have done it before, do they just walk down the waiting line, marking people?

I just finished my long run, which was entirely miserable BTW, and in a few minutes I'll spin down for about an hour before heading to an short, easy OWS.  Tomorrow is another OWS and easy spin before heading to a the lake with some friends and then Sunday is a 112 bike and 45' run off.  I don't know what Monday hold because my coach hasn't sent me the workouts yet.  Without question there will be a swim but my guess is since it's a holiday I'll probably have a little bit of something else as well.

My taper is actually pretty short in total a full taper will only be about 1.5-2 weeks but things will back down slightly (not much) if my coach track similar to last year.  I'll have a 18-20 mile long run 2 weeks out and the bike will track in the long-ish time frame for a few days beyond that.

Mentally I'm ready race but I know there are some fitness gains yet to be made, mostly on the endurance side, obviously.

This weekend started with 4k swim/10 mile run this morning. 1 hour ride (with z 3-4 intervals) tonight. Saturday: 4 hour ride and 3 mile run brick. Sunday 18 mile run. Next week will build throughout the week and then the weekend of the 19th will be high volume. Friday-4k swim/6 mile run. Saturday: 5 hour ride/6 mile run. Sunday: 4 hour ride/ 10 mile run brick. The Tuesday after that fun will be double 10 milers. 10 in the morning 10 in the evening. Feeling strong and ready. And yes, the time is flying by.

That's a heck of a high volume weekend! I won't get anywhere close to that. In fact, my highest volume week will probably be a few hours more than your weekend. I'm just not a volume junkie, though, and I thrive on intensity vs. volume. Just make sure you're getting plenty of rest!

So, 32 days until THE race. Has everyone dialed in nutrition at this point? Have you worked out race gear and wear? Are you working on or finishing up strategies and/or alternate plans, in case things go better or worst than planned?

Thanks. I sleep like a baby from 8:30-4:30. I have been building into this volume throughout my training. My higher intensity came earlier in the year and believe me a few more weeks of this and I will be ready for lower volume higher intensity stuff through the taper.

As far as gear, strategy and nutrition, I feel pretty dialed in. This is my first attempt at this distance, so we'll see.

Doing good over here. Nutrition is solid; going strong with my custom Infinit mix + other stuff thrown in for variety (just ordered a fresh batch so I don't run out, trying to be smart!). Did a practice 70.3 in my race day outfit (found out I need Body Glide in new areas). Ready for whatever the day brings

Yikes!! I'm 1164. Lots of of ladies in the 45-49 age group. My twin sister is in my age group (of course :p), but her number is in the 200s. What does that mean? She's elite level, so do they get different numbers? I wanted to at least START the race with her lol, but maybe she'll get to go first before the age groupers?? Darn.

There is no elite race this year. I believe you can start with her.

A lower bib number likely means AWA status. It could also be a Foundation slot, not sure.

But as was pointed out, this means nothing for the start. You can start with your sister.

A friend of mine (KQer) thinks that it'll take a faster time than what I've stated b/c of the weather and the fact that a bunch of KQ hopefuls will be there. I was hoping all the really fast folks would be AT Kona...

On long runs, I've been taking 4-oz of Gatorade Endurance every 10-minutes, for a total of about 24-oz an hour. Should I boost my liquid consumption on the runs?
