Finally crossed a double crossing off my "to do" list. Nothing for an adventure report at this time but when I do get one I'll probably post it in the race reports forum. Anyway, here's a couple shoddy videos of my adventure for anyone that would like to see. Cheers

My husband just did this a couple weekends ago. He said it was truly amazing and exhausting!

What time did you start? They started from the South Rim around 5:45pm and hiked overnight and into the next day. total time was 22 hours 23 min.

WTG! Looking forward to reading your report!

We started at 4am and went Bright Angel, North Kaibab, Bright Angel in roughly 14 hours. Definitely epic and can't wait to go again and see what kind of time I can actually put down now that I've experienced it.

That's awesome! Be curious what options you had for carrying the camera.

Awesome!
This is definitely on the list. A couple friends went out last year. They caught the crazy once-in-a-decade fog filling the canyon.

Just hand held it (GoPro Hero3) and when not in use, stuffed it in the front pocket of my vest.

That's awesome. I used to run with a guy who did rim2rim2rim every year. I haven't had the fitness to do it yet, but it's on my list.

I ran your part 2 video through a stabilizer for fun. It's here without audio if you want to see it.

Some parts it worked really well with, but other parts aren't so good.

PS if you want me to take it down just let me know and I'll delete it.

Very cool

I think this is something I want to do at some point...I think I might like to camp either along the way or after. I love run-ventures

What were the temperatures like? Is October the ideal time to do it?

Hey Salty! I like run-ventures too Actually have a friend of a friend that's working on a possible run-venture from Phoenix to Flagstaff (~180miles) next spring that i might tag along with.

March and October seem to be the best times to do a double crossing as it's the best bet to have temps that aren't below freezing (water is shut off) on the North Rim yet still have manageable temps in the valley floor. Going on my Fenix II information the temp at the start on Bright Angel was 57 but was quickly into the mid 60s 2 miles down. First trip through Phantom Ranch, the box and the rest of the valley averaged roughly 70 degrees (5 degrees cooler in the box). North Rim is when my Garmin started acting up so my guess is temps up there were in the low mid 50s as I had to put on a jacket to keep warm while waiting for one of our runners. Rolling back across the valley mid day netted low 90s then down into the mid 70s as we began climbing out of Bright Angel and finally a South Rim finishing temp of 64 degrees.

I really want to make some reservations at some of the different sites in the valley and go on a run-ploration camping adventure some day. The only downside is within the park you cannot camp outside of the designated campgrounds and those tend to fill up a year in advance.
