Subject: Any info on Legendtri?
Anyone have any info on this tri http://www.legendtri.com/? I'm sort of interested in the 100m race, even if it is 1 week before my HIM, since I need a damn big medal But seriously, I'm trying to plan out my year and $150 for a 100m race isn't too bad and it's local. The only thing I worry about is that no one will be on the course. I don't mind it being medium sized but I don't want to feel like I'm spending money on a timed training day since I'm the only one out on the course for miles both ways. I think this is a new series (correct me if I'm wrong), so I don't know what to expect. Thoughts?

Couple years ago I did Leadman. About 200 in total raced and I was along for more or less all 12 hours. By far that race was one of my most favorite. No crowds, few other athletes, just me versus the course, it was awesome. Don't think about being along on course as a training day, find personal challenges that can make the race completely different. It was a true grassroots feeling for a race, one you don't get too often anymore.

It is the same course/day as the old Kansas 70.3 which is moving to KC from what I hear. Obviously losing the M-Dot appeal will drop the numbers but I would expect anywhere from 100-1000 people racing. It just depends on how well its promoted, and if WTC puts a 70.3 near that race on the same date.

Hmm strong rumor mill says Kansas 70.3 it's moving to St. Louis - are you hearing KC?

Blastman, other rumor is that Legendtri is being put on by Silverback, who puts on other races in the area.

I talked to a tri shop in St Louis and there is some pretty strong evidence it is going to be there next year. I am waiting to find out when it is before I sign up for Legend. If it is the same weekend I will do the St. Louis one since that will save 8 hours of driving. I am a little concerned if they try putting it in august/September that is would fight with the Border Wars Tri in STL, since they had their inaugural race and from all accounts it was a huge success.

I have no idea about KS. 70.3 moving or not (don't know if it's a move or just a new race in St. Louis area) but I'd bet a month's salary that there is a 70.3 in St. Louis in June, 2015, centered around Creve Coeur Lake.

Yes I would agree. I just hope this rumor with strong evidence isn't the same as other WTC race rumors of the past, at least the ones that didn't prosper.

Thanks for replies. I think I may try it. I have a month to decide before price goes up. This one is ~3 hours away from me but St. Louis is ~7-8 hours away, so I'm really leaning towards this. More so since I have Boulder 70.3 the next weekend and rather just drive home after the race and rest at home. At least I know the RD has done this course before so it should have all the wrinkles ironed out. Having said that, I didn't think it was the most exciting course out there, scenery wise (did Kansas last year) but man did the run suck. It would be a good challenge.

I first decided I was going to "do" a triathlon in 1994. It wasn't until 13 years later, in 2007 that I actually did. Why did it take me 13 years to get to the starting line? The swim!
