Oh, and regarding this, I like to do continuous swims, but probably because they aren't quite as killer. If it's not too open ended of a question, why skip the continuous swims? I used to do mainly continuous swims with intervals now and then, and now it's maybe closer to 50/50. But maybe I need to work it to be more interval sets than continuous… Thanks!

"because they aren't quite as killer"

If you are going to intentionally spend less time doing something, but want to maintain as much ability as possible, get more out of the time you spend.

You might consider the "Guppy Challenge", posted by Dan Empfield of slowtwitch.com. It is a 10 week series of workouts:

(I couldn't find a more convenient link.)

He had a second one called the "Tarpon Challenge" for somewhat more advanced swimmers.

Happy Swimming!

And I think bo's times are meters, not yards!

Actually, I think your ability to pull 1:25s for more than a few on a measly 1x/swim per week is pretty good! I have to swim many times a  week to do that!

Many of us do not enjoy the ‘pleasures’ of training on a stationery trainer. “Boring”, ”mind-numbing”, “a drag” are three phrases often associated with indoor trainers.
