I am researching a 70.3 to do early on June-July. I will be doing Princeton 70.3 in late September. I was considering A/C challenge half, but I didn't hear many good things about the race-especially the run. Any suggestions? I was thinking Musselman or patriot half? I don't want a killer course (Quassy).. Some of the half distance races I've completed include Timberman, Quakerman Barrelman, and Quassy.

It should not be an ocean swim and it should be driving distance from NJ--Thanks in advance for your thoughts!!

I'm doing REV3/Challenge Williamsburg on June 14th. I did the Olympic Aquabike last year and I loved the course and the organization in general. The first year was a disaster (the current in the James River made the swim like an endless pool apparently) but last year was great from what I saw. The river is lovely (I like warm water and don't worry too much about wetsuit legal), the Olympic bike course had just enough rolling to it to keep you interested. The run is 4 laps of the complex where T2 and the finish line is, so if you are not in to laps that could become tedious. Oh, also it is a 2 transition race - you have to set up in separate places! I'm excited for 2015 - this will be my first half!!!

Just an idea!

A/C was new last year, but even with that I did not hear complaints about it. They did change the bike and the run for 2015, maybe due to the issues you heard about.

Patriot is a great race - I've done it 3x and am planning on doing either Syracuse or Patriot in June (leaning towards Patriot as it's closer to home and won't have to stay in a hotel).

The swim is nice, the transition area is spacious and on grass, the bike and run courses are relatively flat with a few climbs. It's definitely not as hilly as Timberman, which I did this year. Check out my race reports for more details if you like.

i heard mostly good things about Challenge AC - enough so that our local veteran's group is looking at maybe using it for a group race in 2015

Patriots is a great venue. Have raced the half once and olympic and sprint many times. It's our anniversary weekend and we go every year. Williamsburg is a great town with lots to see and do. The half run is cool with wooded sections anb boardwalks. I highly recommend.

I have ran the Rev3 Williamsburg 70.3 last year & really enjoyed the race. Well run & organized. Family friendly & we stayed a few days after the race for a mini-vacation. I would recommended this race.

Eagleman?  River swim but can get a bit choppy and have decent current.  Flat bike and run, but wind and heat are the usual pains for this race.  I've done it twice and will likely do it in 15 as well.  My wife is doing Princeton... I'm debating it.  It'll be here first half, so I may just be there to support and cheer, but then again it might kill be to be at a race and not racing so I don't know.

If you can move your sked to the left a day, there is also IM 70.3 Raleigh on 31 May.

The off season should be just that – a time to rest your body, to rehabilitate injury, and to plan ahead on how to improve performance and prevent injury in the season to come.

The off-season is the best time to fine tune your skills and prepare yourself for the next season. It is also time for you to gain some strength and get a little rest after a long season of training.

As I have reflected over the Tri season this year, I thought about some of the people that I don’t think I will ever forget.
