I live in NYC and in an apt with roommates. I am looking to buy a trainer that is quiet. Anyone have recommendations?

I just bought a Travel Trac fluid trainer from Performance Bike and it is quieter than the Cycleopps fluid 2 I had a few years ago.

I was looking for the same thing earlier in the year. I forked over a little more money but got myself a kurt kinetic road trainer 2.0 and it's very nice. Well worth the money and like others mention I believe my old bike makes louder noise than the fluid trainer. This is the only one I have experience with but the general consensus is fluid trainers tend to be the quiet ones. Good luck!

Fluid trainers will be quieter than magnetic resistance trainers. Also, make sure you invest in a trainer tire. Not only saving your road tire, but also increases grip (hence reducing slip) and significantly reduces noise.

Another thing to invest in is a thick rubber mat for under the trainer. There's specific ones you can guy, or you can get a rubber mat for stables (although that might be a challenge to find on Manhattan!).

I got one of the "puzzle floors" from Sam's Club for about $6 or so.
