Subject: Big Toe Pain
I did a quick search and nothing popped up... which is unusual...

For the last 2-3 days I've been having pain in the big toe on my left foot. It hurts to bend at normal speed (walking or picking something up with my toes), but I can slowly bend it up and down with minor discomfort. It feels like a joint that wants to pop, but it just keeps building "pressure". I did note this morning that on the outside edge of the toe, at the back joint, on that little bone that sticks out just a touch... the pain is excruciating when there's any pressure put there. I am heading to the Dr on Friday if the pain is still there, but I figured I'd drop in here really quick to see if anyone has had this before.

Have you looked at gout? I've not had a problem with it, but your explanation of the pain is similar to people who I know that have had flare ups with gout......especially the joint in your big toe feeling like it's building with pressure.

Hit the Dr.'s office on Thursday. Turns out I have an elevated uric acid level which does eventually turn into gout. Funny thing, when I looked at the dietary causes, it didn't fit. Then I looked at medications... I now have even more reason to get off my HBP meds.

I got a new pair of the same size / brand of shoes and started running on them. On my left foot, the toe next to the big toe starts to get a little painful and goes numb after the first 1-3 miles.

On the long bike rides of 80+ miles I get very strong pain in my toes. I slow down my pace and I might recover, but when I hit the next hill it is back. Could this be some kind of circulation issue?

I have been noticing a pain in my left foot on my longer runs. It is focused on the ball part of my foot, almost a burning type sensation. Typically wiggling my toes around will get it to subside.
