Comments: Felt good. Took out feeling pretty good and decided to hold the pace. Looking at the splits, kept questioning if I could hold the faster than normal low 8's pace for this. Running partner kept thinking we could, but wasn't sure and didn't want to lose it... but when we saw the PR possibilities, we held on. Approached mile 5 and started putting some distance on the race partner. He held back. I knew he had more uphill power than I, so I bombed every downhill we had to bank time, only to see him chew it away on the ups. The last quarter was all up, and he was closing. I knew it, and did my best to hold him back. Surprisingly, he caught me coming to the .10 marker and we matched stride for stride coming in. Turns out we tied for 3rd. Great race! Great time. New 10k PR. Post race

Woke at 0600, cup of coffee, and a granola bar.
Packed the kids in the car and headed to the race. Arrived at 0800 for a 0900 start
Packet pickup, walked a bit, ate another granola bar, pottied, drank some water.
Nothing special. Going into this thinking it's mileage and a fun steady effort pace.
