I was just noticing the "tired legs" last week. My 60-75min runs have gone from 8:15 miles to 9:30 miles...my legs are getting fried. Walking up a flight of stairs has my quads burning lol. 'Tis the season : )

Anyone care to guess what the water temp might be when we take the plunge? It's been a very chilly spring in NY

I bet its barely wet suit legal. I think thats been the case the last few years. I think 2013 wasnt wetsuit legal, but they let you wear them if you wanted...just didnt count if you wanted to KQ

Swam in 2015, race was wet suit legal. I was lapped by a Pro and they were also wearing wet suites. 15 was a warm spring so you should be fine, Best of luck this year. I will be the old guy with a beer in his hand on your ascent into Wilmington.

Yeah i just went back and it looks like you're right...i could have sworn 1 of the years I did it it was "wet suit illegal" but looks like i was wrong. Im getting old

Just did my 1st 2.4 of the year this afternoon...wet suit better give me a few seconds/hundred or im going to be 2-3 minutes slower this year

Anyone doing Quassy this weekend in prep for placid? I did a 90 mile triple brick on Thursday and tried to do Quassy last night on cyclops app after a 40min tt swim. I died at 40 miles. I am getting tired. May taper the rest of the week after medium long run today. Just curious if anyone else is going to taper for this weekend or just treat it like another long training session.

I have a half iron this weekend. It is local to where I live and was only $90 so I figured I should use it in prep. The only problem is it is super flat. Not really good prep for Placid, but I decided to taper the end of the week. I have done two weekends with 100 mile rides each Sunday and this weekend was almost all hills. I am also getting tired, but know this is the most important part of my training.

I feel like my life hit fast forward last week with all the kid stuff and training.

I live in a flat place so 99% of my miles are on the flats. I just have to pray it's enough. I'm definitely getting tired.

Good luck to all those competing in Quassy. I hear it's a truly challenging course.

If you are looking to procrastinate your workout and want to read about my crazy life the last week or so I actually sat down and wrote a blog post about it. Perhaps not the best use of my limited free time but it helps me not drive my husband crazy by talking to him about Ironman training all the time.

Happy Training. I've got another 100 on the books for this Sunday. Woot Woot! We are getting close.

I'll be at quasy. Been tapering for it and the break in heavy training was much needed. Really looking forward to this race. Love the course, love the venue. I've set myself up really well to improve over last year's time. Good luck to everyone else racing.

Short time now. Got this weekend, a little recovery, and then 1 more seriously heavy training block before tapering for IMLP.

Oh boy!! I crushed Quassy. Beat last years time by 45 minutes. I hope everyone had as much success as I did.

You are not wrong. One year, it was too warm and the deal was you could wear your suit, but they separated the results...those wearing suits and those not wearing suits. There were a lot of folks that still wore their suits that year.

Rode with a buddy (Toucan) that saw the postings and raced in 2011. He said that 2011 was the year the swim was not wet suit legal. You were still allowed to use a suit but you could not qualify for Kona or other awards.

A little inspiration for us. My friend sent me this today. Reminded me I need to get a rain jacket for the trip.

I'm actually going to be up training in Lake Placid this weekend. I'm hoping it will be a confidence builder of a weekend. I'm also hoping that the weather holds although some practice in the rain while not preferred is not a bad idea.

Will anybody else be up there by any chance?

I'm going up 4th of July weekend.

Anyone been on the course recently? I'm curious if the bike/run courses are marked at all? Leftover markings from last year, or anything like that?

So this weekend there were hundreds of cyclists up riding the course.

It's not marked by the Ironman team but there were two camps (south shore and breakthrough performance coaching) who had signs up marking the course.

I cycled two loops and if this Florida flatlander can do it we should all be fine. :-)

I will now be applying all of my thoughts to hoping that the roads are dry for both of my descents down to Keene. That is one screaming fast ride.

So, Last weekend I went to Lake Placid. I had a great time and learned a lot.

I'm now mostly freaked out about making choices for what to wear if the forecast is cold and wet for race day. Coming from Miami, I don't have any of that gear.

But if you want to read all about my weekend I wrote it all up here: http://wp.me/p5TR0G-t1

Do any of you guys from cooler climates have suggestions for what you plan to wear if it looks like the forecast is 60 and rainy all day?
