This season is over for me. I'm mentally starting to gear up for 2015 but for now I didn't feel like running much the last few weeks and man did it show. DH had a huge full marathon PR though (which is why we went) so it was worth it.

If you take into account I lost about 7 minutes when I stopped to pee, my time is pretty consistent with 2 out of my other 4 hms. Well at least I'm consistent :)

oh and right now I have no official time because my results don't show on the race results website. Meh - either way is ok :)

OH but the best part of the day was at the expo, DH bought gore tex running shoes and that got us into the VIP tent. I didn't think it would be a big deal because usually those things are just as crowded as the regular lines but NOPE!! We had private portopotties (which is the biggest complaint I hear out of the Philly marathon - not enough) AND post race massages with little wait.

I'm going to make that my mission from now on at every race we attend: figure out how to get into the VIP tent. TOTALLY WORTH IT IN PHILLY!!

The VIP tent at RnR Raleigh was totally worth it as well!

Consistent is good.  Nice work!  7 minutes worth of portapotty time?  Hmmmm,  there is room for improvement just by dealing with that!!

VIP tent generally means you spent enough in the expo to earn the spot

VIP!  VIP!  Way cool that you had special access to port-a-johns just for buying a pair of shoes!  Congrats on a consistent half marathon!

Oh, and I gotta ask - did you get a cheesesteak anywhere in the city while you were there or do anything else fun?

7min bathroom break? Was this on columbus between mile 2/3? That line was ridiculous, I stopped and waited with Wifey (I used the mens room along the wall), after a couple of minutes, all the ladies decided they had enough and went behind the portos.

Consistency is good, especially if you hadn't felt like doing much training.  Glad you had fun in Philly and congrats to DH!!

First HM for me and I thought it was great. Great energy, challenging enough course.

Porta johns has something to be desired and I laughed about the men using the wall to do their thing between miles 3-4. gave new meaning to "hitting the wall"

BTW, 2:09 for me. I was OK with this. Wanted 2:00, but realistically, 2:10 was my target.

I just ran the Boston Marathon under nine minute miles, can I run eight minute miles for my half Ironman training runs? Or should I go slower?

Steady is our walk. Ignoring the pain that is radiating from my feet, I continue to place one foot in front of the other. Again I wonder, “Why am I doing this?”

This program should be used for an athlete whose goal is to run a marathon in the 1:30-2:30 range and has a good running base in the past 8-12 weeks.

I will assume you have not run consistently more than 6 miles and have never completed a half-marathon. I believe running your first half-marathon is a big task which requires dedication and work.

My training was taking off. I had never felt stronger. I was making bigger strides than I ever had. I was stronger and faster than I had imagined myself ever being.
