Subject: RE: Power on trainer vs. flat road vs. hill Originally posted by DaveL I am a grinder and am trying really hard to get my cadence up to the 85 - 95RPM that I think it should be. I can certainly say that I can develop more power at the lower cadence but maintaining that low cadence comes with a pain cost in the knees and is ultimately unsustainable over longer distances(100+km) A sub-85 cadence does not automatically cause extra pain in the knees and can be very sustainable for well over 100+km. Anyway, you should ride at a variety of cadences when you ride--including some 'uncomfortably' high (or low). And ride a lot. And let your 'should be' cadence fall where it may. |
