Greetings everyone, hope your off season is going well. If you're like me, you've noticed a few extra pounds when you step on the scale so it's time to start thinking about 2015!

If you haven't already heard, Life Time Fitness and Ironman are partnering on some tri events this year. The first round of those are the Life Time Indoor Triathlons. Note, the date has moved to Sunday, January the 4th. Why's that, it's part of Life Time's Commitment Day initiative to get folks going for the New Year. Our hope is to get people to jump start the New Year by setting an objective for the first week and January and then building on that through the year.

If you're new to the sport of triathlon, this is a great event to get you started. If you're don't like the swim portion of triathlon, this is a great event to help you get comfortable with the swim. If you're a tri vet, it's a great event to get your year started or gauge your January fitness level. Something for everyone!

Unlike outdoor triathlons, the Indoor Tri is time based. You're measured on how far you can go in a given amount of time. Our regular wave is a 10 minute swim, 30 minute bike and 20 minute run.

For the swim, you're in our clean lap pool, you can see the bottom, that's heated and no more than 4' deep. Our new bikes have consoles with power meters, cadence sensors, heart rate and distance monitors, so it's no longer just a "who can peddle fastest" competition. Finally, you'll run on treadmills in our climate controlled facility while looking out at the winter weather.

Here's the press release and to register, or for more information, go to IndoorTri.com.

The challenge? The accomplishment? I want to do this because it is an opportunity to live life. The event is an indoor sprint triathlon. I get to experience the challenge on a safer scale.
