Nice Joe, looks like you have the stereo system to drown out any grunts or groans that might come from the pain cave! Again, I'm not casing the joint, just an observation!

ANYWAY, NO BIKE FOR ME TODAY! Here is the story:

I walk up to the main counter and tell the girl standing there that I am here to get a bike out of lay-a-way. She asks my name, finds my deposit slip and proceeds to check me out. She instructs one of the floor salesmen to go back and get the bike. The salesmen comes out a few minutes later with no bike and walks over to the owner of the shop who is chit chatting with other customers and tells him something. The owner looks over at us and proceeds to follow the salesmen to the back. A few more minutes go by and the owner returns and asks me if I called to tell them I was coming to pick up the bike, I told him no. He then asks me if I planned on getting the bike fit there, I told him that I am going to a local custom fit studio next week, all I need is the bike. He then asks me to "sit tight" and again goes out back. At this point my wife and I know something isn't right. The owner then came back out after a few more minutes and tells me the bike they put in the back was the wrong size and he was terrible sorry for the mistake. He then proceeds to tell me that in order to make it right he wants "BUILD" me a custom P3. I said what do you mean? He said I will build you a custom P3 if you give me until the end of the week to get the bike together. I said you mean you will upgrade a P2 with P3 components? he said" NO, I will build you a P3" patting me on the shoulder and grinning ear to ear. So I agreed and said that would be great. As we were walking out he asks "You haven't made a payment since December" I answered "yes, that's right. I paid half before Christmas and told you I would pay the other half mid January." He replies " oh yeah, that's right, I remember,"

Any way, they must have sold the bike to someone else. Even though the bike had only been on lay-a-way for 4 weeks, and their lay-a-way plan is a 90 plan.(see receipts below). When I put the initial down payment on the bike the original salesmen took the bike off the rack, which was a 58cm I made sure myself , and he stapled the receipt to the tag of the bike. After taking down the serial number and he wrote it on the receipt..

I'm curious as to what I'm going to get for an upgraded P3? I hope he doesn't think he's going to get one over on me. I did lots of research on the P2 compared to the P3 and know both bikes very well. I will update when I go back on Friday.

Pain caves look awesome. I'm glad I don't have to have one.

Mark, really tempting. Let me see what happens with work. Australia is definitely on my bucket list.

Dennis, I really hope you get a super bike out of the deal!

Everyone check your stats. I lost a workout and some time, so I fixed mine. Did an easy aerobic spin today. 10-12 mile run tomorrow.

Dennis - Something smells fishy here. You paid $2800 for a bike and now they are theoretically offering you a P3. The MSRP on the 2015 P3 Ultegra is around $4300. I'd check the model year, components, etc. and make sure they are giving you what they say they are giving you.

A reputable shop doesn't act like this and if it is too good to be true, then it probably is.

My thoughts exactly Joe. And lets not forget that the original price was $2800.00 and I got it marked down to $2000.00. So now he wants to "give" me a $4300 bike for $2000.00 and it will take a week to get it done? The shop has several 2014 P3's hanging not to mention 2015 P2's that are 58cm so what's this guy doing? If this guy has mistaken my laid back attitude for a uneducated pushover he has made error for sure! When I did my research I put together this comparison sheet which I will bring with me on Friday.

Stage 2 done. 1 hour and 45 minutes of threshold and VO2 Max intervals. Legs are asking me what was I thinking? So far 6 personal bests in 2 days (10 min, 15 min, 20 min, 30 min, 60 min and 90 min sustained power bests)

Once our riders complete stage 2 I'll update the ToS tracker sheet.

Stage 2 in the bag. The pain shakes were not as bad as I expected - found the first set to actually be the worst and then they got progressively worse. I hear that damn hamster appears again during the tour - be on the watch out.

I would look for an older P3 frameset built up with take off / parts bin components given the price. It sounds like you are going in very knowledgeable which is good. I hope it all works out for the best.

Dennis: if you are not aware, there is typically a sticker st the front of bottom bracket that indicates the model year of the Cervelo frame set. Give it a peek to confirm.

I would gladly take a 2014 P3 frameset with Ultegra components for $2000. I would consider it even with the 105 components.

2014 P3 Shimano 105 is the P2. No real differences as the geometry is the same. Only difference is the components - with the Ultegra it is a no brainer but therein lies the brinksmanship.

And this is what I hope I get. If he takes a 2014 P3, takes off the Ultegra and installs 105 but leaves the carbon T2 areobars and brakes...I would see this as a upgrade from the 2014 P2.

@Joe- I don't have snow but I do run around a lake that has 40 degree water that has done the trick once or twice.

@Dan- I would be VERY happy with this for a $2000 bike

Back from a weekend away from home. Got a short, hard effort on the trainer yesterday (30 minutes) and went for a 30 minute run. Took today off to catch up on house work after getting back home.

3:50' trail run this morning. Started at 4:30am, total darkness, flashlight, backpack, trekking poles, the works.

WOW! That is a serious run.

X2

Thanks guys! Lot of walking in it though, too steep to run.
